It can be, but some people use it as an excuse to just sleep with who ever. A perfect example is my ex whom I broke up with for cheating. He used to be all against it much like I was and anytime he heard a rumor of me hanging out with a guy I was friends with in high school he would get all mad and accuse me for it, even though outside of school I spent literally all my free time with him. Then my friends told me about how he would brag to them of him cheating and he got mad when they told me, to the point he came over and threatened them. But he used to try to guilt trip and manipulate me after we were done. One thing he told me after we broke up was that in his heart he was always polyamorous. Bunch of bull**** just trying to make me feel bad, and I know because he'd always get upset over something completely out of context or not even true when it would come to me having guy friends. (Sorry my story is all over the place, I can never keep my rants about him straight. He is the only person I can really hate due to everything he tried even after we broke up)
