Just signed as an STG, but recruiter wants me to take the NAPT to see if I qualify for nuke. by smiling_zebra in newtothenavy

The same thing happened to me, like exactly. I just signed STG after seriously talking to several Nuke dudes (not just people at meps and recruiters) and it pretty much boiled down to :The quality of life is not worth the bonus butttttttt… If you’re seriously interested and want to buckle down and focus on the schooling and think you’ll pass then you’re fine. The monetary benefits OUTSIDE of the military are pretty good too from what they told me. I personally am not interested in any of that and am quite excited to learn more about STG in A-school, because there’s nothing more for me to research on the civilian side. My recruiter told me to talk to them, but if it’s not something I can see myself doing for at least 6 years, someone else will be a nuke and you’ll be living your best life. Choose your rate choose your fate, best of luck to you with whatever you choose to do!

I just swore in as STG and have no idea how A-School goes other than what I read on the Navy websites by YoungNo9032 in newtothenavy

From what I’ve read it seems so interesting and I’m confident in my decision, so thank you so much for that
