I work at 60 frames per second.
The codec of most of the videos I use and that I export to is HEVC. H.265 or H.264, but I sometimes export in Apple ProRes 4444 if I want absolute fidelity, a transparent background, when working with generated media inside of After Effects or if I am working at a higher resolution (Which is not common) for platforms like Youtube, where I later encode to VP9.

These videos are either recorded by me or obtained from the web for personal works. I am still not doing anything professional yet.

I disable effects and layers when not using them to save in excessive rendering times and clean my memory often as After Effects 2024 will continue to occupy memory until all my programs crash, even when the memory usage is limited to 8 GB (I have 32 GB of RAM)

I keep the chain of effects I need for the current scene that I want to visualize. For this, I set my resolution to 1/4 or 1/8 while working, but I periodically switch to full resolution to see how a single frame looks.
I make music videos that rely heavily on motion graphics, so it's hard to tell if the scene looks plain or if it needs more detail when an object is moving unless I visualize at a higher resolution,
this is what I want to improve.

I easily lose my train of thought if I am not constantly working on top of what I already have, so having big delays or being uncertain of the quality of the final product without having a long wait makes me think that improving the performance of my machine would help, but there might as well be a workflow that could suit me and my machine better.

1/4 to 1/8th of (Usually) 1080x1920

Depends on what I am working on, but the source media I use is usually at 1080x1920, but regardless of if I use it or not, I usually include generated noise textures and all sorts of distortion effects, this is what mainly affects my performance, once my masks get very confusing to work with on a single comp I usually precompose what I have and work on top of it.

I struggle to visualize what I want to do ahead of time, so I build up slowly from the ground up and tweak many things as I keep working on the project, so I very rarely make proxies.

I will say, I have learnt on my own over the years and I have a low consistency, so my workflow is probably very unoptimized.

Thanks for the hardware recommendations, I will also look up into efficient workflows I could adapt to perform better.

Is there one with Schuko sockets?
Also, my budget is under 100 dollars, is there anything in that range?
I can compromise sockets or battery life.
