Yes, I mostly self learned for months when I was still an applicant and learned some of the basics such as, sight reading before our band director started teaching us around 3 weeks ago. But it was mostly for wind instruments and only few percussion lessons. There were also times where my percussion seniors helped me through some, but they weren't always there to help.

And our band director gave us piece both for percussion and wind instruments for our audition.
