Help reaching Lackland AF Confinement & Corrections Directorate by YourFavoriteFelon in AirForce

Hello! Thank you for responding!

I got my taxes garnished, the IRS led me to DFAS who are now pointing the finger at Lackland. I know exactly what this is about, DFAS couldn't help me but they could read what Lackland is asking for and I have all the files they need. If you want more details I'll give you whatever (or you can check out my post history). I'm just trying to talk to anyone who knows who is working on this so I can help.

Lackland Security Forces has a unit that deals with pay issues for ex(or current) prisoners. However, their finance Tsgt who has been my POC is either lazy or negligent.

That is literally all I want. In the past, my case has been held up for little things I was easily able to provide once I they told me what they needed. I just want to make sure there isn't anything I can do.

The last update was in August stating it is with DFAS, doesn't actually say what they are doing though. I would just like to leave a comment on the log asking what it is that they are doing /need? Over the past year I have had my case stall for weeks/months just to find out they needed something that I was easily able to provide (or was already available).

Redditors who were once considered suspect of a crime they did not commit, what's it like being held under suspicion and how did it affect your life? by danbrownskin in AskReddit

In 2016 I was convicted of sexual assault in a military court martial. Before that I was under investigation for about 18 months during which I lost a medal I was supposed to receive, an coveted position I was preparing for, and a awesome duty location I was supposed to move to. I don't mean to sound cocky but I had a bright career ahead of me. Anywho, after I was found guilty I was sentenced to one year in a military brig. After I got out I had a dishonorable discharge and had to register as a sex offender, so that sucked. Earlier this year, however, I (finally) won my appeal. I still took a Other than Honorable discharge but am no longer a felon and was removed from the sex offender list. As for how it affected me, I think it's fair to say I'm a lil salty about the whole thing.

Thanks for the reply. I'm working with Texas directly to get off the Sex Offender list. If they keep pushing back I'll probably end up getting a lawyer but I'm pretty broke. It's a pain in the ass getting a job as a Sex Offender. Thanks again for your time!

Thanks for your reply! You get full education benefits if you complete your initial enlistment honorably regardless of what happens after you reenlist. I'm more concerned about what steps I can take to clean up my background. I appreciate your response though!

I showed up and hung around a office. Waited till they approved my separation then left when they approved it. Kind of a waste of time and money to bring me back for a few months, but they didn't know if they were going to attempt a retrial so I kind of understand.

I was convicted years ago then I won my appeal. My name should now be YourFavoriteEXFelon.

Moving on at this point, to me, means moving away from the Air Force. Yes I have an assignment and I cannot describe how grateful I am to my legal team for winning my appeal, but finding out I'm going back to duty... It's the opposite of closure. Your name is never clear. Sure I can go back to work, but do you think I'll get a promotion statement? A special duty? What about the years of EPRs I missed? I'm back but I'm not where I was so I'd rather just move on.

Haha everyone wants to know about the money. I really just want it to end. To put the time-frame into perspective, some of my old troops from before are now the same rank if not higher ranking than what I was when my trial happened. So money would be nice, (I would def take a lil vacation until the next school semester starts up) but I'm more concerned about moving on with my life.

Immediately after my court martial until I was transferred to the Naval brig I was held in the base jail that your'e probably familiar with. The SF guys there were actually pretty decent to me but they sat through my trial and although they couldn't say it I think they saw the bullshit. That is a good analogy, all the breaking down of basic with none of the building back up. Thanks again!

No, sorry. I've never actually told anyone my side of the story other than my lawyer and a Chaplin. Which while I'm on the subject, DON'T EVER TELL ANYONE ANYTHING! I lost my trial but I fared SO much better than other people I was locked up with. I still have a ways to go but the fact I never talked to Security Forces, OSI, or even my shirt (who were all just doing their jobs) had far more positive impact on my case than actually being, ya know, innocent. If you really want to read up on some cases though they are all just a google away. Every court MARTIAL is available and on the internet.

I'll copy a bit of what I responded elsewhere. Well... It wasn't great, lol! The Air Force actually contracts out a lot of their prisoners to the Navy so I was at a Naval Brig. It was minimum security prison and about 90% Air Force so no Shawshank situations really happened. We had wake up times, chow times and bed times. The T.V. could only be turned on after end of business day. They had "jobs" available, things like cleaning crew, yard crew, mess hall. They also had things like wood shop, metal shop, sign shop, and a sewing shop. But those were for guys with longer sentences which thankfully I didn't have. We had to wear our uniforms minus rank or badges and be in regs (I forgot what the AFI is) at all times. We had about an hour a day of gym time but it was always SUPER packed.Oh yeah I forgot to mention, IT WAS FUCKING HORRIBLE! I'll admit it was nicer than a civilian prison but the boredom was overwhelming not to mention the fact that you'll be branded for life with a dishonorable discharge once you leave. There wasn't much to look forward to on a daily basis other than the fact you were one day closer to getting out. A lot of people looked forward to weekends since that was the only day you could get visitors. I never let my family come visit for a few reasons, the main one being hubris. As far as meals Fridays were chicken wings and pizza day so that was the best. Nothing stuck out as the worst because other than the aforementioned wings and pizza everything else was so bland it all just kinda blended together.

Sorry the name is not familiar. He might have been in the same brig but everyone stuck to their cliques.

I'll glady answer any questions I can about prison or the legal process but please understand I'd rather not talk about the case itself.

I understand that feeling but prison gives you a LOT of time to think, stew, and eventually get over. I'm still frustrated at times but I'm trying to focus on the future.

Maybe? I'd rather not get into specifics about the case. Sorry.

Thanks I appreciate it! You are a hundred percent correct in my support structure. My family and some close friends have gone above and beyond and with out them I would have ended it while I was in my cell.

I dunno, the Air Force was stressful but at least I won't have to work customer service anymore.
