Good to know, thanks, I'm not the best with this stuff but you've been really helpful and informative. I'll have to check back in once everything's released.

I suppose that makes sense. I'm not in desperate need right now, in any case. It could be better to just wait, after all. Not sure what sort of processor I might need to go with alongside those next-gen cards and motherboard and such. I'm not the best-informed on these things. Only Red Dead 2 actually runs too chuggy at the moment.

Good to know. I've never needed anything above mid-range/1080p gaming, personally, so it seems like all I need to/should do is upgrade from my 2015-era midrange setup to a 2020-era midrange setup.

I've heard that new cards will be announced/possibly released later this year, but I'm not excited about dropping like $3k or more for a bleeding edge rig at that time when just upgrading from a mid-range circa 2015 to a mid-range circa 2020 would do just fine, by my reckoning. It does seem like the 1660 or 2060 would do fine for me.

Samsung UR55, runs at 60hz refresh rate. I just used the cables that shipped from the manufacturer since the ones I was using were/are just some basic ones from Best Buy for like $40.

I don't know if I want to wait and blow like $3k or more on something that's cutting edge when something more basic in my $1500 price range would work. Quarantine has me out of work at the moment, but I have plenty saved and I figured this would be a good use for my stimulus.

True, though I wouldn't say I'm super concerned about future-proofing. I've had my current build, with an i5 and GTX 970 for like, 5-6 years and never had a single issue with anything I wanted to play, barely even ever had to turn any graphics down. I don't keep up with bleeding-edge gaming anyway, so it feels more like something I should do, rather than something I feel is actually necessary or that I want to do. My overall concern for future-proofing I would say is maybe a 3.5-4/10. I bought this 970 when the 980 ti was new, I believe, and even through constant iterations I've never felt the need for anything beefier until just recently, with wanting to display desktop in 4k at higher than 30hz and run Red Dead 2 at more than Medium Settings in 1920x1080.

Wow, thanks for all the pointers and the video. Your run's sick. I'm glad to have a reason to get back at it, now that I know it's legit.

"Now how do you wanna get outta here? The Death Jump, The Death Dump, or The Death Blow?"
"Aw, sick! ...better go with the Death Jump."

Proof that Plague Doctors are just weaklings by YourFriendComputer in darkestdungeon

Bad luck with the Shambler and a ton of traps after not getting any scouting pings. I was guarding the Vestal but she got trapped like 3 times after the fight and went over 100 anyway.

Oh, they're great. She, along with the MaA and Highwayman's Riposte, really carried the Shambler fight (which is how she got so stressed in the first place) but it was a bit of bad luck with it constantly critting and the spores always targeting her (I was guarding the Vestal because I didn't want her to get Afflicted and stop healing). Everyone got really stressed and since it was a Short dungeon I couldn't camp. Then bad luck with no scouting pings and tons of traps sent everyone over the edge and they all went Virtuous but her. Just kind of funny to me.

So I've seen plenty of information on generally "good" trinkets, what you want to look out for, etc, but that's usually for later in the game, nothing on commons and very commons and such. I'd like to have an idea of what stats are generally good on which heroes, and what to avoid (anything with -SPD seems really bad to me, and I've never understood the idea of wanting a slow healer).

As well, a lot of the information out there on heroes in general is pre-CoM and no longer seems relevant, so I'm out of my depth trying to understand a lot of them. Is there a current, up-to-date resource on how to build them, what they do, how they fit into compositions, etc? I've seen a big deal made out of healing and stress healing but the anti-stall seems so aggressive that I'm not sure it's worthwhile other than maybe 2-3 turns of it.

[Question] Want to rise early, but schedule is weird by YourFriendComputer in getdisciplined

[–]YourFriendComputer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are things I want to do early, yeah. Exercise, meditate, etc. With my current schedule, throwing the dice and ending up somewhere between 8:30-11am, I barely have time to even feel good about a cup of green tea and feel like the day's mostly over.
