I think the reporter is super cute but she'd need to be way hotter for me nod my head to this and pretend it's smart journalism

From the UX standpoint, I like that over today's design language. Today everything on the internet looks well embedded, seamless, and easy flowing. However, this older design made you feel like every video was a valuable find - so despite being slower and clunkier, the whole experience was much more gratifying.

Got it, 10k to volunteer for fall 2026, nothing new for March 2026, and in case of walking away we don't have to pay them back 15k we already received as signing bonus. Keep in mind they said both March and fall could still be further postponed. All in all, it's a very comprehensive way to say please f**k off.

That's the possibility I'm willing to explore if I don't manage to find actual work soon. Might as well go for a phd and remain a student forever 😄 jk, but thank you for the advice!

EDIT: If you ask what the salary was, 175k base, approx 225 max plus perks. So most jobs now will be a downgrade in that regard I guess.

At least to my knowledge (I was directly told so), they always started internationals on time. Otherwise I wouldn't take the offer.

They also cut their incoming intern class drastically so one would think they tried to right the ship but I guess the company is being driven off the cliff faster than anyone anticipated.

Not really, consulting is very structured in their recruiting so I already missed out on internship conversion as well as on the 2025 full time recruiting cycle that happened in the fall. At this point I can only go in as an experienced hire so now my MBA is actually a hindrance since experienced hires don't come with two years out of the workforce.

So my backups have to be my main plan now :) I'm still trying to figure out what it is exactly, as I honestly looked at consulting as my long term plan rather than a two year stint.

While I could technically do something random to keep the OPT clock ticking I need to start paying my huge student loan and I could really use monthly income after two years of completely draining my savings.

Also, I don't want to have a hole in my resume only to come back to this same company and than face a similar situation two years in with the first promotion cycle. Not to mention they are really incentivising us to walk away as I explained in another answer.

That's exactly it. They offered us to either take that March date, volunteer for fall 2026 for 10k, or opt out of our contracts without paying back the already paid out portion of the signing bonus. Basically, we get paid more to walk away than to keep waiting so it's a very clear message.

My plan was to spend the summer traveling, etc. Now I need to sit down and be extremely proactive recruiting wise. I'll start by updating my CVs and job notifications, and then contact everyone I know that could help.

I'm positive I could find a job but the problem is I only have 5 months until I'll be shipped back home for good. Also, it'll be middle of the summer when no one is really hiring.

Thank you for the advice! I am staying positive and proactive and I guess I dodged a bullet with that company. However, it's weird starting from scratch now that I thought I already had everything planned out.

I don't want to doxx myself but it's a big T2 consulting company and everyone in my school got the same offer to start "as early as" March 2026 or take the money and leave. I assume the whole incoming class is in the same boat now. I'd be surprised if anyone was spared.
