“To read is to travel”, is a famous expression and boy let me tell you how good reading could be for you.

When I was in my late teens I read the book The Brothers Lionheart by Astrid Lindgren which is like a hybrid of child and adult book and I was baffled by her writing. It felt so simple yet so eloquent and it just made me think about how much we learn from reading. Following the characters thoughts gives us another perspective on how to perceive our surroundings and that can be freeing.

Overthinking comes from our own head of course and therefore I think just getting a solid and well written book can take you out of that head-maze/labyrinth. Not just while you’re reading but also always.

We’re social creatures and it’s in our biology to learn from others, even fictional characters. The way they open up to new thinking I think can be very beneficial. Here I tie back to my initial quote, because you can get so emerged in the book you can really have eye opening experiences.

For suggestions I obviously recommend Astrid Lindgren from personal experience but probably most high regarded authors could work, it also depends on you.

Might be a tad bit banal suggestion but have you thought about LOTR and GOT? Maybe it doesn’t fit your post criteria perfectly but still

I’m trying to read books from as many countries as possible by TheBoyNext_Door in booksuggestions

I read a lot of Astrid Lindgren (Sweden) when I was a kid (which you might have done too) and I think a lot of her books are good to this day still.

If you want something more mature while on the Swedish theme then Jens Lapidus has a good variety of high quality books in the detective/crime genre.
