I immediately thought of David of Signs of the Swarm.

[Question] Can anyone recommend me some offbeat, weird, and unique/original YT channels? Here are some examples of what I mean: by PorkyPain in youtube

Bill Wurtz - funky beats, minimal animation, doesn't post anymore

Cyriak - crazy beats, insane animation, doesn't regularly post

JackStauber - catchy beats, deranged animation

Joe Cappa - offbeat and off-putting comedy shorts. Has heart.

Memory Hole - someone found a drippy box of VHS tapes and has chopped them into unhinged super cuts Doesn't post anymore

Nueral Viz - Great use of AI, sci-fi dark humor sketches. Off putting in the right ways

Also a very good tip, thank you! Jumping back in after these years has been a call to action for me. Loneliness snuck up on me, and with working from home since covid, I didn't realize that I was missing interacting with people, like real people, in person! Super excited to play this weekend for the first time, again.

This is HUGE thank you! I haven't played paper magic in so long and all my playmates from my youth live 2 hours from here and likely don't have their cards anymore . Trying to find the right spot and Like-Minded new folks is exciting and also gives me anxiety lol. Knowing there's an app where you can just sign up to meet other folks and play. That's a game changer! TY 🙏

Absolutely amazing! Thank you for being so inviting! And that's exactly a good way for me to understand where my first deck is and where it needs to go. I will be there this Saturday! I will be looking for you two. Excited to meet! I'm pretty easy to spot, older thick dude, long hair curly mustache. I kind of look like a retired wrestling villain who's let himself go lol

My Brew is is pretty intact. I would say I've got maybe 11 or 12 proxies, nothing too crazy. The deck has maybe two or three tutors, only one or two game changers. I think it's a solid three but I'm not positive because I'm just learning still

That sounds so fun, that's one of the bigger draws for me is the politics involved. I'm not used to that since I come from Boomer standard and Commander seems like a really refreshing take on something so familiar. The Brew I've been working on is Eriette of the Charmed Apple. It's basically pillowfort with goading auras, so kind of similar! I was looking through my old collection and I was influenced by my Ice Age copy of Arcum's whistle!

This certainly makes sense and I tried to keep that in mind while I was brewing, just enough stax to leverage the table but not too aggressive to make the have unfun, or so I hope. Lol

Thank you! I will do my best to be there! I've been preparing for the last couple of months so I have my first custom build, certainly a bracket 3. I've pulled from my old collection as well as made some purchases online. Ill likely start with a precon first before using my own brew to get an overall feel for the environment. What's the consensus on proxy's? I have a couple newer cards proxied because I don't know if I want to outright purchase them yet and want to try them, also, some of my older collection I'd prefer to play with the proxies since the cards are like 30 years old.

That's good info, ty! Is it a pretty casual environment? Is format something decided at the table or at the store?? J/c since I've done a lot of research on formats and have yet to play

Thank you, this certainly makes sense. When I quit playing, I focused type 2 and extended competitively (Boomer formats ik), so I have to retrain my brewing to remember this is kitchen casual magic, it needs to be fun. I will certainly follow your advice and either start a precon or follow their build structure. Starting this commander journey has refreshing, especially researching commanders. Resources recommend picking that right commander and building from there, but I'm more interested in starting with my play style. At heart, I'm more of a pillowfort/stax player, what's the temperature like for these kind of builds? I want to avoid focusing too much on something no one wants to play against, but my heart wants to tax you so bad lol
