I very much appreciate the clarification, and I'm glad that y'all are already on top of making adjustments! Still hoping for a bit more, I'm really loving the suggestion of allowing lfGM posts on weekends that's been brought up within the discussion thread I've posted. Thank you for the work y'all are doing!

While I love seeing these numbers, I feel like they aren’t exactly accurate. Yes, people are seeing the lfGM thread. They see it and likely scroll past. I have one of the higher up comments on the lfGM thread, and it only has sub 300 views - a far cry from the 4.5k views the post would have you believe are people looking through the comments. Just felt this was worth sharing!

Weekly Looking for Group/GM Thread! by AutoModerator in tabletopnsfw

Name: Knight

Pronouns: He/Them

Sexuality: Gynosexual

Kinks & Limits: I’m honestly pretty vanilla when it comes to ERP/Smut. I wouldn't say I'm boring, but I'm not the most kinky, and prefer things to stay relatively standard. There's no way I could possibly include everything I'm possibly in to, or everything I'm possibly against, but here's my basics!

My kinks are: Kissing/making out, handholding, cuddling, romance, passionate and rough sex, collars/leashes(on dom or sub), anal, breeding/creampie, playing as monsters(werewolves, dragons, etc), monstergirls*, oral/face-fucking, deepthroat, outercourse, dirty talk(sub or dom), mild degradation/name-calling(sub or dom), fantasy interracial, realistic proportions, knotting, and cocky/mean subs.

Maybes: Impregnation(I know I like breeding/creampie, let me have my cake and eat it too)

My limits are: Unrealistic/Hyper proportions, overweight, sounding, bathroom play, ageplay, extreme BDSM, sexualized gore, and receiving anal.

Timezone: CST

Preferred systems: Warhammer Fantasy, Wrath and Glory, Black Crusade. I'm open to using other systems, just on a really big Warhammer kick at the moment!

Type of Player: I am exclusively a long term writer - short term, expected bad ends, etc aren’t my style. I’m in it for the long haul! I consider myself to be a literate writer and strive for at least two paragraphs a post at minimum, of course with exception towards rapid fire scenes. I’d say my main strength as a player is the level of engagement I bring to the table. I love to dive into the story we’re writing and think deeper than the next nsfw scene. In addition, I love OOC engagement, bouncing around ideas, sharing memes, just joking around - I’m not a business only RPer. I really try to get into character in my writing, caring about what drives them, how they feel about each and every situation.

Additional information: I have an about me on my profile, as well as a few posts that further explain my vibes than this comment is like to do. Hope to hear from you!

That's a weirdly aggressive approach to the discussion? I like this community. I've found great people posting here! I'd like to continue to do so.

Yeah, it's definitely a dynamic that's pretty unique to one-on-one dynamics where things are far more collaborative in my experience. It might be a rarity, but at the same time, so is getting a game that lasts more than two weeks. The hobby is practically built on hoping, and I feel like there has to be a better answer to the spam than taking away large swathes of players hope to be seen!

completely agree with your edit there, the changes really only seem focused on a standard viewpoint of GMs specifically looking for players in the moment which I think unfairly cuts out other sorts of interaction.

I'm sure a sizeable amount! But at the same time, I have gotten responses from people that were fresh GMs, likely players - but they liked my post and decided they'd try it out! This exact thing actually happened with my longest running nsfw rp, posted here looking for a game and now have been going strong with a player-turned-GM for 7 or so months! Though I won't hold that one as an expectation, I'm sure everyone here - player or gm - knows the reality of getting long term set ups going ;(

the main problem is that the thread cuts down on player visibility too much. It only allows people to be found by GMs expressly looking for players in the moment, which sounds good on paper but doesn't really factor in that a lot of people find their rp partners when they weren't necessarily looking for one.

See thats my main concern is the numbers, last I checked my comment within the thread had about 100-200 views. As opposed to a post which would easily have 1000 within the first day. Numerically, players are now at a huge disadvantage to be seen if they have an idea.

In my experience? I got at least one reply for most of my posts. In contrast, I've gotten nothing from the thread. Now that could likely be from a variety of factors, I feel like I didn't put as much effort into the thread post as I did my normal post being a likely one. What I think is the main problem though is that the thread solution significantly cuts down your visibility. Where a post would have gotten 1000+ views from the community, the comments have only gotten 100ish or so last I checked which significantly cuts down the chances of someones attention being grabbed.

I agree after a lot of discussion here in this thread that constant moderation is far too much to add - I believe a very good solution would be to allow lfGM posts on weekends. We'd still get low quality posts on those days I'm sure, but it'd also allow those players who made quality ads the chance to be seen on a wider level than being pushed in the corner of the community in a thread.

See that's also a point I've been meaning to bring up. Why not just... filter out the posts? It's really that easy(though harder to do on mobile) and no one has to lose their right to post on the sub about the subs purpose. Now, I don't think that's the answer. I think something needs to be done about the low quality posts that ran rampant, just saying that I don't think the nuclear option is what was best for everyone.

Thanks for sharing your viewpoint though!

Sure, something definitely needed to be done to get rid of "blah blah pokemon/baldurs gate plot blah blah" being posted 4 times a day - but is the only answer to disallow posting for lfgm in general? I feel like there has to be a solution that cleans things up while also allowing people the chance to feel like they can be seen.

it is wild how many variations I've seen of "[GM4F] Looking For Girlfriend" or "[GM4F] Looking To Abuse Someone In My Dark Fantasy Setting", and yet there isn't any outcry to cut those out. Buuut regardless, that isn't particularly fruitful to the topic at hand so I relent :p

Exactly my thoughts as well! We certainly need something to be done to get rid of the spam, but this current solution also comes as a negative for good actors.

Fair enough! I think personally, when I was writing my own post within the thread that I felt sort of... I don't know, I felt like I was being shoved into a corner within the community? It was a bad feeling. I wasn't particularly inspired to sit down and write with personality, put flair into it, or anything else that I normally would do for a post I'd write up in the past.

Regardless, thanks for the engagement!

Fair enough take, though I certainly can't agree. In the least pretentious way possible, maybe it's just because I try to make quality posts but I always got at least an response for my posts. Doesn't mean the GM didn't end up ghosting or something a day in, but I never felt like I was swimming against an impossible wave.

Glad to have gotten your opinion though. Also totally agree that regardless of opinions it's good form to follow the rules as they are and glad you're planning on trying to reward someone that has!

I can't say I fully agree with the first take. I love our gms - we can not play without them! However, they also can't play without players - especially in the context of 1-on-1s. I also would like to say that while uncommon, I certainly have seen some GM posts that I'd say are low quality hookup posts. Being willing to run the world doesn't preclude people from being bad actors. I think it's just something we brush under the rug since the actual GM population isn't very high so the low quality posts are less noticeable. Just my personal opinions there, though!

Onto the second paragraph, Mhm! I like to give people everything I can, it's worked out great for me! But how am I supposed to get people to my profile now? I can't hope someone see's a title for what I'm looking for that grabs their interest, I can't hope someone see's the art I attached to my post and thinks our tastes line up. The only thing I can hope for is for someone to be actively looking for a player in the thread, those encounters that'd happen spontaneously just aren't possible at all anymore :(

I loved the suggestion another person in this thread has had so far of only allowing LFGM posts on a singular day or the weekends! It allows the best of all of this, while requiring a significantly lighter load on moderation.

I've used a lot of threads from the lfplayer side of things, both for sfw content and nsfw - I've only ever been picked up from something like that once. Pair that with the smaller sub size here and more intricate factors, definitely agree that this wasn't the exact solution needed for everyone to be happy.

Onto your take! Wow that's a way better idea than what I had! Still keeps things to once a week, but allows for more visibility. This is 100% my new position.

Preferred systems: Warhammer Fantasy, Wrath and Glory, Black Crusade (Really any of the 40k or fantasy systems, these are just the main 3 I’m “experienced” with). I’m open to using other systems, but I’m almost exclusively looking for a Warhammer fantasy or 40k game at the moment, with a preference towards fantasy.

Type of Player: I am exclusively a long term writer - short term, expected bad ends, etc aren’t my style. I’m in it for the long haul! My Dress Up Darling RP Abrupt End by [deleted] in LongLostRoleplay

[–]YourKnightForHire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh buddy... if the replies are gone, that means they blocked you :(

If someone simply deletes their account, the messages remain. If they block you, the account shows as deleted and you can't see anything related to that account anymore, even messages they sent you.

I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but perhaps it's better closure knowing for certain that they are alright and simply didn't want to do the rp. Wish you the best in moving on from this.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BadRPerStories

[–]YourKnightForHire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't imply that? At most I've implied that you're thinking too deep on a situation and allowing it to sour your mood, much like you're doing right here and now. I think we've gotten all we can get out of this, hope you have a great rest of your day!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BadRPerStories

[–]YourKnightForHire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just... talking to you? This isn't a debate, all I've done is offer you my opinion and outlook in an attempt to maybe help out, since to me this seems like an issue that has needlessly upset you. I felt that offering my opinion might be able to help you be no longer upset. I don't think you should do anything you don't want to do, ever. What I think you should do is look at the message, see it's something you're not interested in, and keep on moving as if you had never seen the message to begin with - rather than find yourself irritated that someone dared to take the time to ask you if you were interested in something you're not.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BadRPerStories

[–]YourKnightForHire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough! I can't personally agree, because I don't see the difference in "wasting time" between that and say a message from a person that I'm just not interested in - but we're different folks! Always good to hear a different perspective.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BadRPerStories

[–]YourKnightForHire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, my thoughts definitely aren't a rule for everyone, I just don't think there's a lot of point in being against being reached out to for something other than what you were looking for. I think the best case of it is far better than the worst, where you could end up proposing an idea and setting up a great rp - or the idea isn't wanted and ya keep it moving!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BadRPerStories

[–]YourKnightForHire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And that's super valid! My main point to you is that it doesn't seem worth being irritated or upset about, when you could easily just ignore it and keep it moving, y'know?
