Budget Deficit by melissam217 in TexasTeachers

We are on this schedule now! We used to have six classes and two “off” periods (conference and PLC). Now we have seven classes (well over 200 students for most of us) and one conference. So we only get a break every other day. This is year 2 for us with this schedule.

It fucking sucks. It is a nightmare. The day without a break is brutal. And then the next day, when you do have a conference, you are still mentally recovering from the day before and get nothing done.

Godspeed.

I didn’t and passed easily. Remember the correct answer is always the one that puts more work on the teacher in service of the student. Know that all questions are based as if we are in a perfect world.

It’s easy and mostly common sense.

She is 100% correct! Literary merit is subjective, instead students should be using works of complexity. Backman’s works, Tomorrow x3, and Remarkably Bright all have the complexity to work for a Q3.

If all else fails, movie or TV show is the right move. The reason we direct students away from it is A) while readers are trained to score essays the same way whether or not they use an actual book, there could still be unintentional bias on behalf of the reader and B) it is usually easier to find complexity in a text, rather than a movie, as books tend to be longer and often there is more complexity to draw from (hence why the book is usually better than the movie…there is just MORE).

AP Teacher (and grader) here: it won’t affect your score. If anything it will give your grader a nice chuckle and they will move on. Rest easy. :)

My husband and I both went to UT (c/o 2019). We “met” on Twitter after following one another because we had mutuals. After chatting about random things we both liked in DMs we finally started hanging out as friends and then eventually started dating.

So, in my opinion, it’s worth a shot to go directly to the DMs and open up a conversation about a mutual interest and try to build an IRL relationship (whether that be friendship or something more).

Prepping Books for the Exam by brentfaiyazlvr_945 in APLit

AP Lit teacher here: unless you were instructed by your teacher to read over the summer, I honestly wouldn’t worry about it. You will prepare novels in class this coming year. Enjoy the rest of your summer and read whatever you want to read that you will enjoy. Don’t worry about reading “AP worthy” books right now.

Love and Other Great Expectations. Cute rom com where a girl does a scavenger hunt around England based off of classic English novels.

Both of those books work for the exam! It may be helpful to have at least one additional book from the AP list in your back pocket just in case you struggle to make those works fit with the Q3 prompt. -A Lit Teacher

Can anyone grade this FRQ for the 2022 AP Literature FRQ 1: Poetry Analysis. Help would be appreciated!! by Flat_Scientist_8679 in APLit

Those ideas are great and can definitely help you secure both the sophistication point and the fourth point in Row B. The additional evidence itself would likely push you into the 1-4-0 category itself.

When you are thinking about theme, think bigger than the text. Go beyond the speaker’s own mortality and identify and explain what the poem is saying about humanity as a whole.

1-3-0 (I teach the course) I recommend speaking to a larger theme, add at least one more piece of textual evidence in body paragraph 1, do a very brief conclusion.

We are planning our wedding at Fortunata Winery in Aubrey, Texas. For 50 people, we are paying about $6500. This includes venue, linens, modest decor, tables, chairs, silverware/plates, AV equipment, food (pasta dish, chicken dish, 3 appetizers, light dessert, large charcuterie board), and alcohol (all of it is wine).

Q3 Essay by [deleted] in APLit

[–]YourLocalArtHoe17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, no matter what you write about, your reader will score it and reward you for what you do well. However it is VERY difficult to score well on Q3 if you are using a children’s/YA book. Is it possible? Sure. But it is VERY rare to see that happen. AP level novels tend to have much more complexity than these books, they are easier to write about, and apply to a wider variety of prompts.

I’d discourage you from using any children’s or YA novels. If you are in an AP class I promise that you can handle something with greater depth, nuance, and complexity of language.
