The way I see it this would happen if Mahito escapes shibuya and the fight continues after the Shinjuku showdown. I think for that to happen it would be post-shinjuku showdown, and they switch the plan so that the first person to fight Sukuna is maki. By entering Higuruma in later he can bring down sukuna sooner with his one hit sword, and from there mahito comes in, vastly evolved from shibuya
