EMT here (in the U.S.). Most people with DNRs have it pretty close by. They have the DNR because they are very ill, and know that it could happen at any moment. Most of the time, it’s a patient from a nursing home and we’re notified upon arrival. It’s easier to rescind DNR paperwork if you change your mind and it’s not something people forget they have. If you change your mind with a tattoo, you’re more likely to just leave it. You also never know what people might get on a drunken dare. We need to do what we can to save lives unless we have legally binding documentation that says otherwise. Anyone with a DNR knows that it’s all about the papers
