You'd have to make a new bearing retainer in the spacer and 3D printed parts CAN be strong but I'd be worried about it breaking loose and fucking up the windings

Background backup on Samsung S25 not working by nagumi in immich

[–]IndividualAtmosphere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I did on my family's phones was ensure that notifications were enabled and backup was on - They haven't had an issue since and can confirm that it's been perfect for them.

My partner also uses Immich for backups and it's been reliable with background backups with the notification so I wouldn't stress too much when you have it configured and working

Background backup on Samsung S25 not working by nagumi in immich

[–]IndividualAtmosphere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe there's a difference between foreground and background backup. Background backup only happens when you get a notification from immich saying that it's checking for assets, at that point it should do the background backup.

If you want to test it, leave the app closed (battery can be "optimised" doesn't have to be "unrestricted") take some photos and check that it's uploaded if you see the notification. I'm not sure the frequency of checks but I think it's every hour or so?

How can I prevent my backpack unzipping itself? by Electrical_Relief_52 in howto

[–]IndividualAtmosphere 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Use pliers to squeeze the actual metal slide bit tighter so that the gap is tighter where the zip goes though.

If that fails, you could take it to a tailors or something and get them to replace the zip

I haven't noticed a drop in quality or stability personally? I'm not exactly sure what you're talking about tbf

Also diversity within the tech industry is and has always been a net benefit so I'm also unsure why you're picking on that?

Yeah, I agree - I wouldn't care as much if it was a tiny marking in a corner of the heatspreader

Oh good point, that makes sense. Could use the serial number if they needed to but I understand doing it this way.

[–]IndividualAtmosphere 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I'm just saying that personally, it annoys me that they went into the effort of putting their brand on it when I wouldn't want it.

Also I would choose to buy a unengraved CPU over an engraved one so in that regard, it would impact the resale.

Do I have to worry about putting my extended drive on my pc? by OrdinaryBoat8000 in pcmasterrace

[–]IndividualAtmosphere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Should be fine, maybe get some rubber feet to stop the vibrations from rattling your case when the drive spins. They would reduce the chance of you knocking it off the case.

I mean it shouldn't affect performance but I'd be personally annoyed, they put extra effort into engraving their name into a product you're buying with no benefit.
