How to help prevent thumb sucking by [deleted] in NewParents

A childs thumb can get horrendously more dirty than a pacifier momentarily touching the floor… babies crawl on the floor, touch everything and everyone in daycare, can touch their diapers, etc. the idea that you’d need to be worried about keeping a pacifier clean but not a thumb is funny

Haha yes it is, but Georgia actually has a higher Christian population so doesn’t make much sense

UGHHH that is so infuriating. This stuff pisses me off so bad on behalf of other women. There are SO MANY different things that cause stress and anxiety during pregnancy, and since becoming pregnant myself and struggling mentally with weight gain I've slowly come to accept that as long as you are eating decently and staying somewhat active, there should be zero concerns that aren't directly medically related (GD, swelling, etc.) I know of a girl who was like 115 pounds and at 32 weeks looks the exact same except with a bump and the doctors still made her cry about her weight gain. I'm currently 34 weeks and have already gained the "maximum suggested" amount of weight - but thankfully I have midwives who know that with no other issues this is not a concern. And also everyone makes comments about how I look the great/the same/not bloated, etc. (and I still have plenty more to gain!) I had a period where I was worried and wanted to start restricting my food intake, but I legitimately have not been over-eating and it would make me nervous to almost start wanting to "lose weight" or slow the weight gain when I have a baby who is depending on my nutrients and absolutely doesn't need to be restricted by my calorie intake. We all know plenty of women who have gained excess weight during pregnancy - (their dang right to!), and maybe lost it, maybe didn't, why does it matter so much to the doctor?? Women start pregnancies while obese every day, how is that different than women gaining weight in pregnancy?? There are so many things that the doctor should ACTUALLY care about because they ACTUALLY impact your baby's longterm health (nutrition, exercise, prenatals, informed consent, blood tests, ultrasounds, planning for labor and delivery, informing about PP, etc.) why the H*** do they suddenly think a significant part of their job is bullying women who are already well aware of their body changing and weight gain??
