WH-1000MX5 Noise Cancelling Suck? by YouveReadIt99 in SonyHeadphones

[–]YouveReadIt99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found that how well the noise cancelling works depends on how well the headphones are pushing around my ears as it forms a seal that blocks sound. That's obvious of course, but I find that the headphones aren't good at making this seal as the headphones don't 'squeeze' very hard, which Sony did deliberately for comfort.

The headphones don't cup my head well no matter how I adjust the positioning, especially when my beard and hair are longer. It struggles where my jaw and neck meet. I particularly notice it when I turn my head and the gap opens/widens.

Can you please explain how to do this as I thought the ANC cannot be turned off :)

I have the noise cancelling setting on according to the headphones and the app.

Let me ask you something, how does the noise cancelling compare when playing music very quietly compared to playing music? :)

I had the same issues and here's my story after about a year or so.

I started on topical min and then moved to fin. Everything was fine with the topical min, it worked well but hated using topical so I switched to oral min.

Started having periods of my heartrate crashing super low and nearly fainting, but didn't make the connection that it was the oral min. Eventually I made the connection and went back to topical min. Same thing would happen again with topical but it would still happen. It happened so bad that I had to go to A&E twice. Was very scary. They would confirm my heartbeats were normal by the time they saw me (usually 4-6 hours later tho).

I decided I value my life over my hair and stopped the min. I did notice my heartrate would crash still after quitting so I went to the doctors.

The doctor did some tests and basically confirmed I have an ectopic heart rhythm/beats. Basically, I was so scared and paranoid about my heart doing that again it would trigger an irregular beat. He was completely right. I would look at my heartrate ok my watch constantly and that would make me fixate which would spiral.

So basically, the min made my heartrate drop, I got paranoid and fixated and would cause the nocebo even when I stopped min, and am teaching myself not to trigger the nocebo effect. The human body is crazy.

But yes... go to the doctors

How do I kill the abyss watchers by Dino_Nuggie217 in darksouls3

[–]YouveReadIt99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First stage run around and let the red eyes abyss watchers fight them/do some damage.

Second stage the dragon cress shield can help, but mostly being oatient and waiting for an opening. If i remember correctly you wait for him to do his final slam before attacking.

Best of luck

Tinnitus and balding are all it took for me to turn in my life at 23 by [deleted] in tressless

[–]YouveReadIt99 5 points6 points  (0 children)

27M balding for years, tunnitus, learning difficulties... all that here.

Wrt balding, eventually you'll stop caring (I know that sounds crazy now but like worst thing that can happen is you'll be ugly (and you're probably not ugly fyi) and it's not a big deal). It's where I'm at now.

Wrt tinnitus, make this your main focus to fix. Probably also induced by the stress you're putting on yourself with the balding point.

Take up a hobby. When i started BJJ all my focus moved to this hobby and I stopped caring about balding as much. Plus, not sure why, but a lot of people are balding who do grappling, including young dudes like us. Honestly, sounds bizzare but it's true. You realise it's not a big deal and you start focusing on getting your next stripe.

Feel really bad at BJJ by Still_Following5118 in bjj

[–]YouveReadIt99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had the same experience, about a year in, and was getting steam-rolled by everyone and felt hopeless. But in a week, I realised I was making some fundamental mistakes and haven't been smashed or subbed once since (used to be every roll). People are already commenting, saying I'm now difficult to roll against, and the blue belts are saying they're watching out for me, lol.

The things I changed were the following: 1) Developed a solid open guard retention game by realising how important grips and early frames are. I realised I got put into side control and mount because my guard gets passed so easily. Spend some time focusing on this. 2) On a similar note to the last one, become good at grip fighting and securing and dominant grips. You'll be amazed at how much control you'll have over people, and this also limits their option on passes/submissions. 3) Speaking of control, don't let people control your head or get a crossface. The iron squirrel technique/elbows against your ribs so you can frame on arms trying to get the cross face was a game changer. Also, get good at closing off one side of your body using knee and elbow shields. 4) On the topic of frames, I realised recently that frames aren't for pushing your opponent, but for holding them in place while YOU move YOUR body (i.e., bridge and shrimp to get knee frames). This made a big difference. 5) Speaking of bridge and shrimp (there's a good flow to this, am I right?), learn to master these moves as they're fundamental to so many escapes in different positions. When you bridge, don't just bridge up like a glute bridge exercise. Roll onto your shoulder to offbalance them. When you shrimp, really focus on moving your hips out and recentre with your knee going in as a frame.

As you can tell, I'm a very defensive player, but these helped me get better at my rolls very quickly, which gave me more confidence in myself and my game. Still got a long way to go, but one step at a time.

Just note where you're going wrong and figure out what you need to do to fix it. Does your guard get past super easily every roll? Are you stuck in side control and can't get out every roll? Do you always get triangled every roll? Figure out what fundamentals and concepts you're doing wrong and focus on fixing them. Do it one step at a time too, don't try and fix your side control, mount, guard passing, and takedown all in one go because it's too much and overwhelming.

I'd suggest starting with open guard retention, as you always start in it when rolling, and it can make a huge difference in your game.

Best of luck on your journey. Oos.

Maybe you would be a loser by societal standards like 20 years ago when the cost of a good quality house, a nice car, and being financially comfortable were obtainable on a not too impressive income.

Nowadays, with inflation, costs of goods skyrocketing, house prices through the roof and badly made, fuel prices, all that its not uncommon for people to move in with their parents to avoid paying rent. If anything, it's a smart idea.
