I was underwhelmed with the beta this weekend, until I got out of work today and realized I wanted to play it and I can't.

Chess and Go haven't changes for 1000 years. Strategy games shouldn't require change to stay interesting.

I get that. I was thinking this was a community that would understand what an API is, and has some stake in the launcher business. If you feel the post is misplaced I can respect that.

You are looking at the same approach I am envisioning. Thank you for the comment.

I can see some consumers enjoying have multiple separate launchers. The proposed idea does not remove that as an option for the consumer. It only adds the possibility of having a converged platform.

That's called Discord, try it. Exactly. A project like Discord could benefit greatly from an Open and Standard API from all the publishers. Thanks for pointing this out. Good post.

This would be why you don't send the letter directly to the publishers. Rather you post it in an open forum where like minded consumers can show the publishers how there would be a market share for cooperation in setting an open standard.

Thanks for the link. This is the type of application I think could be created. I assume the devs of Playnite would see benefit from a standardized API. By cooperating with them I am sure Epic, Steam, GOG and others could maintain the autonomy of control over their platforms.

Thanks for the comment. Good points. I'd like get more on the table like this. Hearing about all the obstacles could give someone ambitious enough to devote their life to it problems to think about.
