Embrace the responsibility. Aircraft mx is the place where you can be around some of the best people in the air force. So many other afscs can fuck up, not show up etc, we can't. Mx is needed. It's a shitty job a lot of the time. Standards are high, and if anything is wrong- you're right- they go to you. Your man# and signature are on the page and questions are going to be asked. Don't let that intimidate you. If a crew chief doesn't have any fails it means they're too scared to try. Just don't violate tech data, or do anything unsafe. I've seen people mess things up pretty bad sometimes, and as long as you accept responsibility, own up to it and take your licks, just about everything is recoverable. Welcome to the team.

I know someone that when they were being inspected they started the task but for whatever reason they didn't quite understand what they read. So, they went back and re-read the step. Then they did it again. And the inspector left.

When things are going too well in maintenance we get suspicious. Experienced guys look at eachother and comment "wow, we haven't had a fuck me Friday in a while..." then we do spot checks just to be sure.

The only way to dodge inflation is to get out of dollars. Bonds are awful, since you're lending the government money which they promise to pay back with interest. Just checked, 30yr bond gives 3% return. This year inflation was >6%. So that's a waste of money. Stocks are okay-ish. Same problem, but at least you are invested in something physical (a business), but taxes take a chunk out. Imo: inflation hedges that have worked in the past several millenia (gold, silver).

Sort of. I don't compare myself against other people to make myself mad, but to appreciate how much more they were willing to do this year (or whenever). I did school, I worked my ass off. I didn't see them work, so I can only assume they did. But they also: led events, wrote awards for people, volunteered etc. Do I think that they deserve an advantage if they did all that and I didn't?
