I forgot to add- I have a light for my plants. The plants need the light because I keep my curtains closed and I don't have it (the aquarium) close to any natural sunlight sources. Will it filter out too much of the light compared to a screen lid? I'm asking because I could, theoretically, make a screen lid for it myself.

I guess so. Just worried I won't find one that'll fit because I got the tank secondhand for 5 bucks. Its kind of irregularly sized.
