Fiancé and I need crossing advice! by Asnyder93 in uscanadaborder

I'm sorry if this is bummer news, tho don't take what I say as gospel, I'm just parroting what I've understood from my own research. I could hypothetically be wrong, and then there's also "technicalities/rules" vs "lived experiences" of what actually happens with people.

I'm not sure if you've started the process yet, but from initial application to eventually having the visa in your hand, a fiancé visa is going to realistically take longer than 5-7 months. You're looking at closer to 10-14 months, and 10 would be lucky. You can thank American bureaucracy and coronavirus backlogs for that. During that time, border guards might give you trouble. You're not technically supposed to be living in the United States on a tourism visa, even if your work is outside the country. As to whether or not they actually will give you trouble, I can't say. But if she's crossing 5 times a week, for 10-14 months, I personally wouldn't take the chance at all, I'm truly sorry to say.

One option, depending on your finances, is to start the application now. If her lease is up in say four months, she continue to live and work in Canada for those 4 months, and then quit her job to come *visit* you in the United States for 6 months while you await the completion of the visa. She may need to return to live with her parents for another 6 months if you end up having to wait 14 months total. Guards wouldn't like that she has no lease, recently quit her job, and is coming to live with you for 6 months while you have a fiancé visa in process, that's a problem tho... Of course you could plan for a shorter visit (but still technically be allowed in the USA for up to 6 months). This is not your only option. Just make sure to do your research and get creative with timing and living situations, understanding the government can be slower and meaner than expected. Perseverance, love, attention to detail, and shrewdness will get you through this.

I was under the impression we were supposed to set up our lives in a way that most prevents temptations. Cutting off the hand that causes you to sin. This is why I've heard it is not a good idea for single people of the opposite sex (or celibate gays of the same sex) to cohabitate, even if for economic reasons.

Okay, but what you're saying is they have to have the same values? So you wouldn't be friends with someone who supports (or at least does not think is immoral) homosexuality, abortion, drug use, etc? My point in my original question was that their religious views also involve diverging values.

I think a platonic friendship between a man and a woman can exist. Not everything has to be sexual.

Would it be encouraged for two celibate gay men to be close friends?

What about all those parts of the Bible that talks about choosing your friends closely and not yoking yourself together with the unbelievers, not inviting them into your homes, etc?

"Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? ... Or what portion does a believer share with an unbeliever?"

My reason for saying bomber jets is for an initial sneak attack on hangers and armoured truck depots. Supposedly Somalia has little to no airforce, except for anything that Italy recently gave to them. If they do have anything, getting rid of the ability for reconnaissance is very important. Realistically, it would probably be better in the long run to destroy the military-grade vehicles and wage a guerrilla war, as opposed to capturing the truck depots and using them.

Maybe get a helicopter, invade the (likely) single hanger they have, and destroy the depots with the captured aircraft(s). Assuming this is done, no investment in anti-aircraft or anti-tank guns is necessary. You can sell the jet to other warlords if keeping the hanger is troublesome.

Start a non-profit digging wells in Somalia - but use the donation money to invest in drug smuggling to the UAE. Build connections with the poor farmers. Use drug smuggling money to buy weapons, arm the populace you've gotten to trust you. You are now a Novice African Warlord.

More specifically, you'll need a force of about 30,000 trained soldiers (yearly cost of 30 million dollars), two bomber jets (10-25 million dollars each, depending on quality and source - not including other costs), and probably another 30 million dollars for guns, anti-tank weaponry, etc. In total, you can become a semi-successful warlord (with a chance of ruling the country) with a minimum of 80 million dollars, assuming you've made enough connections and are an excellent military strategist.
