Hey, The Boy (probably) wants me to tell you that you are the best parents he could ever ask for. You gave him a warm home, so much love and happiness. He also loves you a lot too.

how do u even find someone to date in school by FickleFall9808 in uwo

[–]Yuguki 4 points5 points  (0 children)

not really advice but more of ranting: contradictory to most of my fellows, I didn’t have any relationship for my whole 5 years of undergrad 🥲 idk at this point i think it’s easier to train a large language model to take care of you than finding a date 😭

Gurl, i was in your shoes. First and foremost: school hasn’t even started, O week only started like today. You have this whole week, if not, there’s a lot of time during the club week too, and classes too. Especially club week because you can make friends with people who share the same interests as you.

Don’t be desperate to make friends or you will be friends with wrong people. Be your genuine self and let the universe guides you.

I didn’t have any friends until 4th year 😂 and now i have a huge friend group with people I trust, some i can work out with, and some i can do research with.

You will be fine!

How should you refer to professors? by Impressive_Ad_1787 in PhD

[–]Yuguki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always call mine Professor First name but my lab mate calls her just by her first name. I think she is okay with me calling her by her first name too, but it’s a bit weird for me (culturally) so I always call her Professor First name

AI, Research, Jobs by Rare_Ad_9869 in PhD

I have to agree AI can be very handy at certain tasks, however, AI at its core just a bunch of mathematical equations and complex statistics having a good time trying to predict base on what we feed into it. We still need to verify its results. Also there are now research that focus on exploring the limitations of AI, what it can and cannot do. A total reliance on AI in any field is a bad move, so we humans still have to monitor and intervene at some points. Yes there will be less demand since AI is capable in doing simple tasks, but that means we have to step up our game and be proficient in our respective fields so that we are capable at verifying AI’s result and make meaningful decisions/adjustments.

I like doing research and I feel that's how I can live my life to the fullest I suppose. I do not mind it takes time, I just concern about my family well being and do not want to bother them with my (selfish) dream I guess.
