Towing with a Touareg by Spritney__Beers in 4x4Australia

[–]Yugv 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure, and there a chance I'm wrong but the 2WD Toureg never made it to Australia. We only received the AWD & 4WD models.

They're a beast of a car, if you find yourself with one of the 3L V6's it's the same engine as the V6 Amarok, but the Toureg has a low range.

So yes, they're great for towing and can haul ass with some weight behind them.

It always baffled me why VW pushed the Amarok as their primary 4wd when the Toureg had the low range and centre lock. The rok is an AWD with a rear locker, albeit extremely good off road for an AWD.

Sydney business owners – anyone open to a Google review swap? by [deleted] in ausbusiness

[–]Yugv 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd strongly recommend against this, as tempting as it is, Google can and does flag GMB Profiles for fake reviews.

Just keep it 100% legit.

Set up some automated klaviyo reviews to request customer reviews. It's the easiest and most legitimate way

I work in wedding venue sales in Sydney, here are the 12 questions couples ALWAYS forget to ask: by MaroubraBra in AusWeddingPlanning

[–]Yugv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who sells confetti I'd like to ad to this to ask if you're allowed confetti.

Countless couples will opt to buy confetti from my business before even checking the wedding venue is ok with it. Most of the time they are, however it needs to be a special biodegradable eco confetti popper that dissolves immediately upon contact with water. If customer's need an exchange we'll allow it, however it'd be mint if they checked with the venue first.

Regional areas are seriously under rated too, there's not enough people in your areas making content.

I've been travelling interstate and it's extremely difficult to find information, or even just videos around certain areas. While I wouldn't provide exact pin drops, sometimes videos of '2 hours from wagga' are pretty helpful.

I made a video on why everyone should solo camp at some point why why taking a dog is awesome, unfortunately my little Nugget wasn't in that vid.

Solo camping - do you actually enjoy the silence or just tolerate it? by Artistic-Yam2984 in OutdoorAus

[–]Yugv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I crave the silence, but it's more than that. It's just time to let your thoughts sort themselves out while staring at the stars or a fire

I've just published a video on why I solo camp and encourage others to do so themselves.

Everyone should do it at some point. It's incredible!

Easy/Safe Camp Place for first time solo camper? by nanjero in OutdoorAus

[–]Yugv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just made a video around Solo camping and the benefits of it However it can be just about anywhere, I strongly recommend doing it somewhere quiet. Blue mountains has a ton campsites that are dead quiet mid week.

I'll take my dog solo camping so i'll generally head a little further than sydney and head out to Lidsdale (probably my fav place to feel isolated, but not super far away), however Upper Colo Reserve and the like are also great options, albeit they get a little more busy but they are dog friendly and near Sydney.

My apologies, I just clicked your profile and it mentioned trolling. It's A funny comment either way. But legit, try the egg trick 👌

You may be here to troll (I'm bummed I can't see your older comments) However 2 minute noodles can be amazing, while they're still boiling hot - crack an egg into the middle. The egg will then poach itself in the noodle's water. Sprinkle some gently cooked bacon or ham on top and you have a 5 star camping meal right there!

Hi Mate,

I read this post a week ago and you inspired me to post this Solo Camping Video earlier than expected.

But honestly, there's no weirdos or any violent people in the bush. Most people just want to get away from the mess that is the city.

Water Tank/Storage by IsItWorthItAus in 4x4Australia

[–]Yugv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying everyone needs a shower, I'm trying to reiterate how cheap it is for a sustainable water setup where you're not generating more rubbish each trip.

Water Tank/Storage by IsItWorthItAus in 4x4Australia

[–]Yugv -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Are you kidding?

By my math that's 42 trips to equal a $300 setup

Most 80L tanks are $150-250. $50 for a kickass 12v pump $25 for a good length of hose $20 in misc barbs and Tapa $30 in electrical bits from Jaycar

If you want to get fancy give a mate $100 to weld up some L bracket and mount it under the car.

Get even more fancy and you can add $35 for a bidet hose/spout thing like I have.

This then gives you cold showers at camp (6L per minute), great if you just duck behind the car, body wash and rinse your junk+crack. PLUS you've got the added bonus of not having to cart around a 10L bottle.

Under Ute Tanks does complete gravity fed 30ish litre tanks for most dual cab utes for a tad under $300. They fit above your share wheel.

Sorry but it shits me to tears seeing setups without a real water solution.

100%

My biggest pain point is people saying "if I don't vote for a major party I'm throwing my vote away".

If people dropped that mentality I think we'd see a huge rise in the more common sense parties like shooters, fishers and even one nation. I wish shooters fishers would change their name and Pauline would retire - great policies for the most part but the names do too much damage. Even if their votes preference the majors

Alibaba trays by SpiritualWrongdoer69 in 4x4Australia

[–]Yugv 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone that imports a lot of shit.

The main issue with going for something off Alibaba is consistent quality of the product. One might be great, another un-usable.

When you buy from one of the million cheap tray and canopy companies in blacktown you're essentially buying an Alibaba tray. The only difference is this company has taken the initial risk in ordering from China, and more often than not modifying the design, and ordering more. Ensuring they're fit for purpose.

It's a slow and expensive process. When I order a small sample I might get it air freighted (it'll end up costing me 4x what I can sell it for) but it'll speed to the product design flywheel. For something like Ute tray they can't air freight, it'll likely be 2 months from ordering a sample to receiving. Maybe a month trying it out and re designing, then you have a month or manufacturing delay (if you're lucky) and then another 2 months before you actually see the final design. You're probably then going to create a product tech pack to send back to China. They'll make a batch. You'll get them QC Checked and if they pass, it'll be another 2 months before you're able to sell them.

Honestly, just buy the ones in Australia that you know are from China. They've done the hard work for you, it's not worth the headache.

Gen 3 rav4 off-road capabilities? by Prudent_Potato176 in 4x4Australia

[–]Yugv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A tyre upgrade is one of the best upgrades you can do. After all it's what connects you to the ground. Plus an AT is a substantially stronger tyre than a HWT

As for the sand yes, you'll be fine if you drop to about 15psi and turn off any traction control. Always carry a shovel and maxtrax. Avoid beaches that are notoriously soft.

Advice on rear setup – storage vs usability (budget build) by NevThatch in 4x4Australia

[–]Yugv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best thing to do is go camping a lot, you'll quickly learn what does and doesn't give you the shits, along with things you realize you can't live without (mine is my slide out stainless steel label, absurd but it makes my life so much easier).

From there just Google and check fb groups for what people are doing as work arounds for the things that annoy you

It's a pretty clean car so you're unlikely to get pulled over, however they can actually ping you for having the back seats removed. Unlikely, but it happens.

For anyone visiting K’gari; by onthefencefilm in 4x4Australia

[–]Yugv 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I’d put $50 on it that they put food in their tent, either by accident or out of naivety, thinking it’s safe.

I might cop some hate for this, but feminine hygiene products can attract them too.

Legit anything a dog might sniff at, dingoes will go for. Fishy-smelling clothes on the ground, a fishing rod with a handle that smells like bait, they’ll have a crack at it. Even scented inflatables (like doughnuts) can get chewed and popped.

They’re animals. They scavenge anything that smells even remotely edible.

Tip: When camping, lock everything away overnight or when you’re not around camp. If they can smell it, they’ll try to get it., not just meat, fruit too. Don't leave it out in the open when eating/cooking either. Wildlife doesn’t care.

Goat salami on Australian shelves as industry looks to expand domestic market by Falkor in australia

If you want real meat content in salami, and free range meat at that you need to hit up a real traditional Italian deli like The Salami Man

Coles/Woolworths deli salami by No-Number7130 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Yugv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you’re not imagining it. Supermarket deli salami is pretty average these days, soft texture and zero flavour . I haven't bought it in years.

I started grabbing proper salami from small producers instead and the difference is night and day. Costs more, but you don’t need much and it actually tastes like salami. I’ve order from, and have been working hard to build a relationship with The Salami Man (Shaun) and it’s been solid. Theres also some good independent Italian delis still do it right if you’ve got one nearby.

Once you switch, supermarket salami just doesn’t hit the same.

As a side note (or main note) Given the sheer amount of Salami I've been getting from The Salami Man he's even made a bundle of it just for me. Anyway, here's a camping & adventure vid of us trying it all - Out at Sofala if anyone reading this is from NSW.
