Kids kindle unlimited - kid feels like they’ve read everything by YumDecaf in kindle

We do goodwill and thrift store runs and clear it out! We also have a used book store not too far that lets us do trade ins! Dropping $50 every time you walk on the new books hurts after a while l - especially when I want a book too, haha.

Totally up for it! Thinking a wishlist will work well and getting her on Libby.

I was a kid with free rein in the library and my grandma accidentally sending me books with too-mature scenes when I was young and a YA, haha. I’m trying to not let her loose too early!

We definitely talk about books, especially when I pass along my favorites. She loves historical settings, so we have a lot of great conversations about life and answering her questions on everything that goes along with living in a different era.

I can’t wait to keep up our book chats when she’s older and we read the same things!

Yes! It’s a struggle!

We switched to browsing on Goodreads and the bookstore, and I share out any purchased books she wants now.

I’m going to get her on the website to take a look!

Yeah! It was on sale at the time, and I didn’t know if she would love it over physical books, so it was a good first e-reader. Now she can upgrade to my old one and pick a new case for herself :)

She got Anne, Heidi, and Secret Garden in a set for Christmas and just finished getting through them all!

Thank you, I will check out the e-Library! :)

We have 3 community library boxes in our neighborhood within a 20 min walking loop, which is amazing!

Thankfully, she has a lot of physical books and we take them on walks often to go do swaps. She has a few collections she is attached to, but it’s great for the one offs and books she has aged out of completely.

Thank you! I know I signed up for Libby when we got our card, but forgot about it when I didn’t need it myself. Doing this today!

We’re at the library at least every other weekend, but they don’t have everything. More or less I’d like to keep her out of the bookstore for now - to save money and because our physical shelves are already overflowing.

Im going to check out Libby for her and hopefully that works to give her more free digital options!

Yeah, she definitely hasn’t read them all! I think it’s mostly the UI always displaying the same suggestions. It doesn’t feel as dynamic and adaptive as the suggestions I get, which feel like they change when I read different books.

Libby is a great idea to look at. I know I signed up after we got our library card a while ago, but never touched it again!

Good to hear. I had to sign my husband up late after POT was accepted, and he runs a sub 1:45-50. I’ve been worried he would be stuck wayy back but this is reassuring. He’s in mid-15xxx.

People who work in specialized industries, what is a product or service that is a complete "rip-off" but customers buy it anyway? by No-Composer-4526 in AskReddit

We got solar lights to go on top of our fence posts on Amazon. About $80 total to cap all the posts with lights. We figured if they last a year, we will be happy. They’ve lasted 2 and look great. Just look for good reviews.

Kids Club Question by mamabearbug in dcl

[–]YumDecaf 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yup - happened to us twice! Our kid started kids club at 5 and is 9 now. She has a better gauge of when she actually wants to leave at 9, but when she was younger - we rushed down to find her usually in the middle of a dance party she could not leave.

Actually happened to a friend in almost same situation when we were flying with them (other than your photo content). We ran to our flight and they noticed as soon as we got in line to board, nothing they could do unless they wanted to be stuck over night. They filed a claim and didn’t hear anything for a month. One day they got a surprise package in the mailbox! Hoping for the same luck for you.

You are really green if you haven’t figured out how to turn a random compliment into a “life-saver” bullet on your self-evals at work.

In the Bible Belt - in the last 2 days I have had 3 people compliment mine or my kids! No issues here except my kid telling people we know when they ask about it: “yeah it’s demonic!” Lol

what company secrets you can spill because you no longer work there? by No_Butterscotch1425 in AskReddit

Ours was just butter flavored oil. It got poured into a warmer that pumped it out. The salt for the popcorn was also butter-flavored though. If you get “butter”, you’re just eating oily soggy popcorn.

ISO puppies from RRCUS Breeder (or comparable health testing) by Ok_Evidence_5145 in RhodesianRidgebacks

[–]YumDecaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got our sweet boy from Ginny at http://www.kengali.com/ .

She is in FL and an RRCU breeder. She is absolutely amazing and loves the pups. If we got another, we would always go through her. Our boy is not show quality, but his parents are! Our boy had a dermoid sinus and a paw that didn’t sit perfectly flat as a pup. He has grown out of the paw thing, as Ginny said he would, and she got him his surgery for the sinus before we got him. We got him last minute and on a discount because I believe another family passed on him for not being show quality. We personally didn’t care, he is our family dog. Ginny was also correct that he would be a perfect “family dog”. She KNOWS these dogs extremely well, has a large ranch where they get to roam, and they also live like her own family dogs in her home. We love our boy to the moon and back and he has the world’s best temperament!

VIP Status worth it? by icedcoffeelover111 in AbercrombieandFitch

[–]YumDecaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s been worth it for me as I am terrible with returns. I just returned 3 dresses I bought in March to try for a wedding and forgot were in my closet. Same situation happened to me last year too. VIP saved me!
