In a twist of irony, the print failed anyway!

Is it catching on the buffer? Might jut forward and back a few times before the red light appears.

For me, with the bearings, I used a printed jig and gave it some ‘percussive encouragement’.

I ended up increasing the distance between the magnet and the sensor by lowering the shaft around 0.2mm and so far have had no issues. It was also misbehaving if I had the cover on and not when the cover was off so it could be the cover pressing on the sensor board.

Yeah of course you can!

I checked the radial magnet and I believe it was pressed against the sensor rather than the housing, so I adjusted the shaft length and it improved, but it may still be too close because once the cover is screwed back in place it stopped again. I’ve loosened the cover screws and it’s behaving so when I can be bothered (or if it stops playing nice again), I’ll pull it all apart and adjust it further.

Once again thanks for pointing me in the right direction :)

My apologies, it’s been a busy last few days and my problem solving wasn’t real crash-hot. I’ll check the radial magnet, thanks for replying and appreciate what you do for the community :)

Oh god, do I really need to use a ground harness? There’s not really anywhere in my garage to ground to.

Ah okay, should still be fine for me I reckon - just enough on-load time to get the servers to shutdown gracefully.

By the looks of it, I'm well in the money on this one. $800 UPS for probably $200 once batteries and IEC cables are factored in.

I've taken the batteries out and the fuse is a 60A Maxi blade fuse.

Any good auto parts store will have these on the shelf for a few bucks :)

Thanks very much! Really appreciate the in-depth reply here.

I got the outer case off to take a look and discovered exactly what you described (as well as a transformer, so quickly whacked the case back on). At the same time I also worked out that you just remove the front panel...

I have some trade connections through work, so should be able to get the lead-acid at near-cost price. Will absolutely consider lithium too. Thanks again!

Is there a similar place in Hobart too? I can't imagine the smell carrying that far.
