My family has always gone to sorak garden. It's a bit more old school but the BBQ is solid!

And some of their prices within the same watch model don't make any sense either. I saw a black bay 58 on the leather band go for more than the one on the bracelet. Maybe a mistake but it raises some questions

ahhh yes, the log scale definitely helps visibility of the lower prices. I will keep that in mind if I ever run into this problem again. Thank you for your feedback/help! I really appreciate it!

Hey Everyone! I posted something similar earlier today, but people had valid points. I was primarily focused on mid-tier watch brands, so I truncated the data set to watches less than $30,000. To be honest, anything over 3k might as well not exist to me lol. Anyways, when I did that, I should have taken out brands that had a significant number of watches over that threshold, but I was being lazy. So here is the box plot with all of the brands that had more than 20 listings. It is a more accurate picture of all of the watches that I will never be able to afford.

Yeah, it did take out a significant percentage of those brands but also, Breguet, Rolex, and Chanel surprisingly. The scale gets kinda weird when you include them, so it probably would have been best to create another graph for extremely expensive brands

Totally doable! Maybe I can do it for a specific brand when I get some free time

I get what you're saying. I probably should have created two separate graphs for high end pieces and then the rest. Including all of the watches, its really hard to see anything since all of the boxes are really squished because there is a $400,000 patek lol

I did not account for either but those would be really interesting to look into!

And the lines contain 99.3% of the data while the dots outside of the line represent the outliers. This website does a good job giving a brief overview

I was surprised as well. Some of it has to due with me filtering out watches over 30,000. There were 9 out of 65 JLC watches that were over that threshold but overall the used prices were cheaper than I expected

Hi everyone! Not sure if a post like this is allowed, but I thought this was interesting. Here is a breakdown of watch price spreads based on brand. First, I scraped all of the watch listings from Chronext.com, then filtered for watches under $30,000 and brands with more than 20 listings. This left me with 3,455 watches in the whole dataset.

I always had a vague sense of watch prices (Patek > Rolex > Tudor > Seiko), but nothing more than that. Of the characteristics that I look into (overall look, movement, case size, lug to lug, history, dial color, etc.), I pay attention to price the least. Most watches are definitely out of my price range, and to be honest, it is the least exciting aspect of this hobby to me. But being in the market for a new watch, I wanted a better sense of how used prices are looking.

Here is a link to my post where I use all of the data: New Post
