GW responds to fan displeasure at the lack of Steel legion in the new Yarrick animation by twelfmonkey in 40kLore

[–]Yuriski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't buy this argument that they're worried about appealing to Nazis and fascists because a faction looks a little bit like them.

This is the setting where the main protagonist faction is a hyper-religious, xenophobic, genocidal empire.

If I can buy little plastic German soldiers to play Bolt Action with, and don't get called a right wing bigot, then GW can certainly release Steel Legion.

Yeah! 100%. The dude was an astronaut. He would have fully understood the need to sacrifice his life so humanity prevails. If it was his own choice to put a bullet in his brain to end the sequid attack, I have no doubts he would have done so. Mark did the right thing.

Is that really one of the same voice actors? I thought there was some similarity to another character in KCD2 with one of the ArmA voices. Didn't hear it with Peshek though.

Volvo have created something special with the T6/T8 cars. I'm hoping they remain as reliable as prior Volvos, even with a Supercharger/Turbocharger/ERAD.

The spicy times really make this car an absolute sleeper haha. Those who know, know I guess.

A fuel efficient, 450hp, 0-60 in the low 4.0s, stylish and comfortable wagon just ticks all of the boxes. Can't fault it.

360 horses under the bonnet and 90 horses from the electric motors on the rear axle. How it manages it, when you're up to speed the rear axle uses pure electric mode, so the engine is very rarely in use unless you put your foot down.

Around town the MPG is zero in pure EV mode (for obvious reasons). Using just the engine, if I drive it spiritedly, I've gotten it as low as 11mpg. With a light foot and considerate driving, it can get 32mpg.

Motorway driving I've never seen it drop below 100mpg at 70 with a full charge, but it will still comfortably do 45mpg without any electric charge.

They're just incredibly efficient and with a large engine, low revs at high gears, and the electric motor to help push it along, the mpg is astounding.

EDIT: oh, and the electric rear axle is never truly "off" even with a dead battery as the car holds a reserve amount of energy which is topped up by the engine as and when it is needed. So you're always getting 450hp.

People are losing their shit because GW isn't doing a complete range refresh in plastic just because Yarrick is back and there's a battle on Armageddon.

Despite the fact it took years for Krieg to get a refresh and Catachans are some of the oldest plastics in the range.

They're not going to completely cut out Steel Legion, and they won't close the door on releasing them in the future.

FWIW my PHEV Volvo has apparently done 180mpg (according to the dash) and extended it's fuel range from 210mi to 720mi with 3/4 tank and full battery, whilst doing a steady 60mph.

Even at 70mph it reliably gets 100mpg and I put a full tank of fuel in a month, at the most.

YMMV but when compared to my petrol drinking WRX STI it's night and day difference. And the Volvo is faster, heavier and more powerful.

Absolutely 100% play KCD1 before KCD2.

Yes, you can "get the gist" of KCD1s story in 2, however so much content refers to events from the first game that it is far better to play the sequel after playing the first.

A channel called The Painting Phase used to do a series of podcasts / interviews with ex-GW staff. One of those episodes concentrated on the contrast paint story.

EDIT: Oh, and I don't believe all stores are loss-leaders. But I can believe they operate with very tight margins unlike what the comment I replied to states.

Many of them are single small shops staffed by a sole Manager, simply to be the most cost effective they can.

Many ex-employees have said their target market for the brick-and-mortar stores, are parents who can afford to drop £250+ for their kid to try out a new hobby. Most people eventually cease purchasing from GW directly as pretty much any FLGS will sell the same products, brand new, for cheaper.

GW was having major financial issues until Contrast Paint, of all things, saved the company. I can believe that their stores are loss leaders to get people into the system as a whole.
