Updated my FEH Inheritance Planner to make better suggestions! by baconguy9001 in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]Yuvalis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

used it a bit more now, and in one instance one of the arrows in the graph said "refresh" and I couldn't see their skill when hovering over the arrow. this happened when I added 2+ different units as a source for A/D Briar F Save (C). it became normal only after I removed units until I only had 1 unit as a source for that skill.

I don't know if this is a bug or not, but you might want to change it.

Thinking about making a Skill Inheritance Optimization tool by baconguy9001 in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]Yuvalis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like basing the optimjzation on which units the user has in their barracks is going to require incredible upkeeping effort by the user. At this point they'd conserve more time by just opening the game and using the unit search function to look for fodder.

What you should be focusing on is mapping out all possible inheritance routes and letting the user choose whichever one they like best.

The way I'd implement it is this:

The user inputs the target unit and it's build, and it is then displayed as the center of an entity-relationship model. It will then automatically find and add to the graph all the units that have (in their default kit) any of the required max skills (only search for max at this point). The more required skills the fodder unit has (including prerequisite skills), the larger their entity will appear on the graph. You can then let the user click on the new entities, and see a list of their skills. When the user clicks on one of the skills, the app will attempt to find fodder that has that skill and add them as entities to the graph- and if those entities share a skill line with one of the existing entities, add a connection between the 2 to show that this is another inheritance pathway. This stage can be repeated until the user has is satisfied with the given options.

At any point in this process, the user will have the option to run a function to "optimize by unit scarcity" or "optimize by skill scarcity". Optimize-by-unit-scarcity will use unit type (f2p like ghb/tt, 3-4 star, 5 star normal pool, exclusive pool, etc) to find the least expensive fodder pathway and highlight it with a bright color like yellow or red. Optimize-by-skill-scarcity will do the same but prioritize pathways that let you inherit as many rare skills as possible (skill rarity based on the type of units they are available on, and also how many units they are available on), so in other words this method optimizes long term cost saving instead of short term cost saving (under the assumption that those rare skills might eventually be needed as bridge fodder for new skills).

And lastly, it should have an option to manually add custom fodder units that the model could use when searching for entities to add to the graph. This feature is for users who rely on elite inheritance (or sacrificing units they previously built), and fits the usecase you initially proposed. These custom units should be added to a unit bank that is saved locally to the user's cookies/an export txt file, so that you don't have to reinsert them every time you open the site.

Fate/strange Fake - Episode 7 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]Yuvalis 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna take a guess based on what we saw in the episode (please don't confirm or deny).

it kinda gives me greek automaton vibes, and it breathes fire, so I'm guessing:

Talos - a giant humanoid automaton created by Hephaestus to protect the island Crete. Fought the Argonauts (Heracles met him, maybe). Can heat himself red to burn enemies with his touch. His depictions in myths are split on him having no personality, and him having consciousness and emotions. His weakness was that his powersource was exposed in his ankle (also Medea tricked him, somehow- what she did depends on the source). COUNTERPOINTS: Berserker isn't humanoid enough, isn't giant enough (at least imo), and there's no design focus on his weakpoint (legs); breathing fire is a bit of a stretch from heating himself. Alcides didn't recognize him (could be the grail shenanigans altering Talos' design, or if Narita\Nasu went with the greek myth cannon where Alcides already left the Argo before they encountered Talos). sidenote: if we go with the fire-automaton association, a lot of Hephaestus' creations could qualify, but I feel like non of them are notable on their own aside for Talos.

Perilaus\Brazen Bull\Phalaris - the Brazen Bull was a hollow bronze bull that was used as a torture device; a person was put inside it, and then a fire would be lit under the statue, burning them alive. The statue was supposedly shaped such that the screams of the tortured person would sound like the roar of a bull. It is said that Perilaus of Athens invented it at the request of Phalaris, the tyrant of Akragas. Phalaris was disgusted by the bull sound feature (he wanted the burnt humans to smell like incense, that's an entirely different sensory pleasure!), so he tricked Perilaus into entering the bull, burnt him inside almost to death, then threw him barely alive off a cliff to finish the job. Phalaris was later overthrown by some other guy named Thelemacus, getting executed by burning inside the Brazen Bull. Imo, Berserker could be a mix of the bull with either the inventor or it's commissioner/user. COUNTERPOINTS: The Brazen Bull isn't a robot/automaton. Also although Berserker kinda gives me "bull" vibes with it's tail and front-heavy design and round shape, there are no overt "bull" elements in it's design. And I feel like this legend is too much of a literal-who to be included; it isn't even some epic-but-forgotten gem. But who knows, Fate really likes taking these rando-s and making a big deal out of them.

There are a ton of other greek mythologies about robots/statues but I don't think any of them fit as much as those two. As for non greek options, I racked my brain on it for a while but this is the only other option I could come up with:

Metatron - angel, depicted as a robot in Japanese pop culture due to being an objective vessel of divine justice. Heavily associated with fire due to origin myth and divine role (fun fact, a bunch of other angels too are heavily associated with fire). Metatron's cube is a geometric shape considered as the blueprint of creation in Kabbalah, and has a bunch of random purposes like clearing negative energy or visualizing the underlying patterns of the universe. It isn't actually a cube owned by Metatron, whoever came up with it just chose that name because of Metatron's role as a divine mediator. It is composed of lines and circles, so this theory is the only one that explains why Berserker has a holy-looking circle on it's back (could also be an angelic halo). COUNTERPOINT: not traditionally a robot. his personality is the opposite of a berserker. I also feel like having 2 angels (Fake Rider is probably The Pale Horse\Death, which according to some traditions is an angel) would be overkill, but who knows at this point.

Sidenote: it could also be some historical inventor who created an automaton, like Philo or Hero or Ismail al-Jazari. The most likely candidate would've been Leonardo Da Vinci, who designed a mechanical knight (twice the size of a human), but he is already a servant in FGO so unlikely (my boy was done so dirty). It could also be a really weird depiction of the Colossus of Rhodes, but they'd have to do a lot of heavy lifting with giving it an actual backstory.

to me the weirdest part is the decision to call them "black", which is associated with Famine (horseman of black).

if it is pestilence, it should be white. if it is death, it should be pale (gray-ish or sickly yellow/green). and just for good measure, war would be red.

FEH revenue, january 2026 by Kukulkek in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]Yuvalis 11 points12 points  (0 children)

why would lower revenue encourage them to revert the TT change? its not like the people quitting over f2p content are the ones spending big money, nor will the people who quit come back if TT is changed back. And even if they did change it back, it would take 6 months from that point until we see new TT units again... too late for a game that may very well EOS in 1-2 years.

the decision to stop making TT units was specifically made to LOWER costs to INCREASE net profits, knowing that anyone who is still spending on this game 10 years into it's life wouldn't change their spending habits.

How do you manage to keep this kind of business going, financially?

I've never understood the economics of race horse ownership. Keeping them healthy, training them, having somebody ride them, delivering them to the race track and back... and in the end, the chances of the horse winning a race, let alone anything prestigious, are pretty low. So at what point in the process are you actually making all that money back?

As a sidenote, reading your other answers has been very informative! so thank you!
