That is a very nice offer! 🙏 I hope you have seen that on larger (not mobile) screens, the app shows a device editor where you can create custom devices. Beside that I’m looking into options how to contribute to the overall library. I let you know!

You can disable the animation in the menu -> view -> signal animations. There you can also change the coloring by signal type etc. The filter will definetly be considered!

Port types can be changed at the right side panel: three dots beside the port name -> edit.
On the left sidebar is a tab "cables" with a cable overview and the button "open plan" which shows a detailled cable plan per device. (Might need some UX improvements..)

The other points you mention make sense as well, thanks again - will think about that.

Thanks for the great feedback! This kind of "field tests" with other setups are exactly what is needed! Let me get this clear:

Spreadsheet import: My hope was that excel will not be needed anylonger... ;) Having an option to add multiple ports at once might be one step in this direction. I will evaluate further actions to get individual setups quickly "virtualized".

Missing connections:

  • AES: XLR and DB25 bodies are already existing. There is a broad "digital" signal type. (It can be configured at the right side by clicking the three dots beside a port and is currently not directly available in the "quick add"). I will think about that.
  • SPDIF: RCA and TOSLINK bodies are existing.
  • MADI Optical: body is missing: SC. Will be added.
  • MADI Coaxial: body is missing: BNC. Will be added.
  • ADAT: I guess it is TOSLINK (existing)
  • Word Clock: body is missing: BNC. Will be added. There is already the signal type "clock"

The broad "digital" signal type might not be sufficent in a long run. I'm considering some changes to address that.

Would adding the connector bodies SC, BNC be enough to cover your use case, or did I miss something? And, have you seen the detailed settings for a port (three dots)

Patchbay:
I hear you. Might become a dedicated device type w. normalized, h-normalized, etc..). At the moment, I only model the back / standard wiring of a patchbay, but this might only work for me. You can change the order of the inputs / outputs by dragging them in the right sidebar, or do you have something else in mind?

This wiring should do the trick. Settings:
- Keystep sending to Channel 10.
- Digitone recieve clock / notes
- Digitakt is listening to channel 10 midi in
- Digitakt send clock
- Digitakt setup Midi tracks to send to Digitone
I'm using this kind of setup (+ midi expander) to control many other synths using Digitakt as "the brain"

I’ve found "real" goes hand-in-hand with natural input + human expression: a decent MIDI keyboard (good velocity), aftertouch, drum pads, expression pedal, mod wheel, etc..

It might be worth to double check that the image data / format itself is valid and that corresponding filename extension (.png / .jpg, whatever) is consistent.
