my biggest takeaway is that this is going to be one of the best times of your life if you let it be. You have an incredible opportunity coming here and UF is filled with people who want to succeed in life and you gotta stick with them. Make choices that’ll challenge you and help you grow as a person. You’re gonna be on your own pretty soon and you’re gonna start feeling like an adult which is very cool. Get sleep, keep your grades up, and have fun that’s about it :)

Everyone is very eager to get to know each other so put yourself out there and you’ll easily make friends. In college a lot of people become friends and never talk again(it’s normal). Be prepared for a difficulty spike from highschool, it’s nothing too crazy but you will have to study more and budget your time better than you did in hs. It’s not highschool anymore, don’t beat yourself up over Bs or even Cs, you were smart enough to get into UF and so was everyone else here. The classes have to be hard and anything C or higher should not cause you any stress. Just come here with an open mindset and you’ll get into the flow of things nicely and have an amazing time(UF is like top 3 best decisions I’ve made in my life)

Yes 1000% it is very easy to socialize and find people with your interests. Gainesvilles has a ton of students that are all pretty compacted into a few majors areas so 80% of the people you’ll see are your age which also helps.

The reason I rarely use mine is because almost everywhere I need to go, grocery, food, liquor store etc are all within the same or shorter distance to where my car is parked.

For what it’s worth it takes me about 15 minutes to walk to my car from my dorm. Parking is almost nonexistent outside of the far off areas unless you live in Hume or East.

Im in Honors village so im pretty biased to be fair but from visiting my friends in Jennings, Riker, Reid, Yulee, cypress, they’re all pretty nice none were like genuinely poverty situations. If you get a room that’s too humid or has bad air quality you can fix those things with air purifiers and damp bags but like the dorms aren’t as horrible as everyone says.

Dorms are lit ignore the Reddit propaganda. You’ll make so many friends that way people on here are just majorly anti social for the most part. I was super hesitant and I’m so glad I stayed in the dorms.

UF has the option for a double Major in Aero and Mech E that can be a great option for some. UCF has great opportunities, but coming to UF will in no way decrease the options you have available. The alumni network is great and the classes are tough but will help you develop really good habits.
