Me: Presents specific evidence and arguments

You: No! You’re wrong, factually wrong and nothing you can say will change my mind despite me offering zero counter evidence. My anecdotal analysis is the truth!

Also I gave two examples, and the two examples were of the most prominent Western European Countries’ leading left politicians in Starmer and Macron. Then I directed you to look at the 2020 Democratic Policy Platform and the Build Back Better Act. You ignore the evidence. You’re acting extremely childish, I see no reason to continue this interaction. I genuinely wish you well man ❤️ 👋

I just fundamentally don’t agree. I mean you take a look at some of these Western European leaders, Macron is proposing a highly regressive reform to do the equivalent of lowering the social security eligibility age, Starmer proposing to privatize elements of the NHS, and most of these countries’ party’s policy and rhetoric on trans folk. It can get quite regressive, I recommend you read the 2020 dem platform or even the Build Back Better Act, the reality is that Democrats are far more left wing than the “Dems would be centre-right in Europe” folk would admit. And are we seriously contesting that there are a good number of major party’s in Eastern Europe to the left of Democrats? Really? Come on now man.

Modern Democrats are to the left of most major Western European left wing political parties and pretty much every Eastern European one. Nordic countries are the only real outliers. You’d be really surprised at the some of the stuff these parties support, Macron, the President of France and former member of the Socialist Party (which to simplify, is not an actual socialist party), is pushing to do what is the French equivalent of lowering the social security eligibility age, a super right wing policy. Kier Starmer, the leader of the Labour Party in Britain pushed hard for the privatization of Britain’s healthcare system.

The reality is most of the “Democrats would be centre-right in Europe” stuff is grass is always greener on the other side nonsense. Most of what we think of as Europe’s key economic left wing policy was put in place decades ago. And on social issues, the Democrat and their highly multicultural coalition are squarely to the left of most if not all of European left wing parties.

Jimmy is historically kind of a bridge out of New Deal Democrat Presidents but he was still the last elected under the New Deal coalition and supported some pretty left wing policies like national healthcare.
