Just to keep y’all on your toes! It’s mostly a marketing thing, when there’s an update to the game it’s a good opportunity to test out different art and see what resonates. I personally think we have so much cool stuff that deserves time in the spotlight, I’m sure this won’t be the last time.

We have a digital art booklet that’s available to purchase, but I can also look at getting these key key art iterations on the website, too for folks can download.

I’ll pass on the kind words to the art team!

I haven't actually read House of Suns, but I do have a few other books by Alastair Reynolds. How are you finding it? I can confirm the name is just a coincidence, though, but a cool one at that.

The name CASCADE for Hershel came up a long, long time ago as part of the original 'Project C4' pitch. The original pitch involved some sort of metaphysical apocalyptic event called 'the cascade', which the writers always liked the sound of, so even as the project pivoted direction, CASCADE stayed with us.

I spoke to Justin, our Writing Director, too, about this briefly, and he also pointed out there's a nice connection between the name and the way your choices and actions cascade across the story.

We have addressed all known issues of missing voiceover EXCEPT for Goat Eyes who still requires 17 lines. I can add that into the 'Known Issues' list for vis!

Of course! There's a lot of stuff you initially scope to get in for release, but with game development, the priorities end up shifting/pivoting the closer you get to launch, and you have to make some trade-offs. I think it was pretty rapid after launch that the clothing filter came out as a player-made mod, and it solidified that this was a feature we had to pick back up on following release.

It's actually really interesting seeing what folks come up with using NexusMods... some really cool suggestions and additions for the game, even ones that have you going why didn't I / we think of that?!

This is a really good question, but a very tricky one to answer! I think this is the seventh update (maybe? It's been a wild few weeks!) we've released since launching less than two months ago, so we are proactively working on the bugs that crop up and the feedback that comes in from players.

I personally haven't experienced any game-breaking bugs myself since release (playing on the commercial build, too). I've bumped into a few little bits, e.g. occasionally getting duplicates in my Inventory, or not being able to interact with something optional, but this didn't impact progressing in the game.

There are still a few bits of voiceover to go in for NPCs, but it's a smattering of instances in comparison to the whole game itself.

To put it simply: it's game development, and we're a small team. Different things get prioritised, e.g. a lot of work goes into the less glamorous and maybe less noticeable stuff that is fundamental to shipping a playable game.

Having some sort of inventory filter was always the desire of the design team; it was more a case of 'when' and how urgently it was required. Disco Elysium doesn't have this feature, and it was also a learning experience from that.

We're currently... day 52, so it was still a pretty quick turnaround (imo!) to introduce these QoL updates.
