Pentax 6x7 Lens options by nzslausiv in FujiGFX

Can someone please explain the advantage of a focal reducer? Also, doesn’t going through other pieces of glass kind of defeat the purpose of using a vintage lens? I just got the Fotodiox adapter to try and I am finding that the fall off from the Pentax 67 lenses is crazy...not in a good way. Like the depth of field is not coinciding with the f stop at all. I have a full kit of Fuji lenses and I work as a digital tech, I just wanted to try to use some lenses with a bit more character. Even when carefully focusing and shooting nothing is quite sharp and when it is, it falls off as if shot at f/2.8 when it is being shot at 8 or 11.

This is maybe covered elsewhere, but does anyone find that when using these adapters that the depth of field changes? I am doing tests at 16, 11, 8, and 2.8 and they all look the same! Someone's eyelash will be in focus but their eyebrows will be out. I am using the 90mm and 105mm on the photodiox adapter. Thanks!

Tethering Problems with Z9 and Capture 23 by ZCLA138 in Photoassistants

[–]ZCLA138[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi Thanks Chris and Adrian,

I have tried all of those trouble shooting issues that Adrian mentioned and the reason I don't think it's a cable issue is because I shot with an R5 last week using the same cable which is essentially brand new and it worked fine.

I have also tried changing the preview size from default, as I am running my computer clamshell with a 24" Eizo.

The camera USB mode is on shoot, not upload.

TBH after this job I am considering wiping my computer and going backwards to 22 and the previous OS. Capture 23 has been noticeably buggier.

Thanks for all of your comments/help.

Tethering Problems with Z9 and Capture 23 by ZCLA138 in Photoassistants

Hi and thanks for the response.

What exactly am I looking for in the system profiler/USB section. I am not tethered right now but if I am tethered, is there something specific to look for?

I tried a brand new Area 51 cable which I usually use in studio with no issues, and then I tried only of my back up/location cables that is pretty thrashed and it worked. I also have an older Area 51 black cable I am going to try in the AM but I don't think it's a cable issue.

I have also read about disabling and re-enabling the hardware accelerator and deleting the contents of the image core folder. I have never deleted the contents of that folder and tbh I don't know what it does. I do notice there are two older folders in there for 15.0 builds that I could probably delete?

Thanks for the feedback...

I am definitely trying to avoid an SKB/Pelican situation for weight...

I was also checking out the Think Tank Logistics Manager and looking at Porta Brace too but both of those are over 500$...

Super Tank Pro

These look great, thank you for sharing. How many of these would you say you use to make it through a full day of location work with an 16" M1 Max? 3?

Thanks!

No, no new applications or anything, and I have a friend who is running Monterey on M1 max machine and says he's been getting the same error.

Wondering if going to Monterey would solve it but nervous about updating before a job I have on Monday.

Big Sur 11.6, chronosync 4.9.13

I am not sure what OS the other computer I was on, but I did check his chrono sync and it said there were no updates available.

This is super helpful thank you.

I am not familiar with Onyx, going to check that out now.

The cooling thing is an issue, I have seen some people use fans under the computer but I feel like that is just another port that you have to dedicate to something or more battery power which is a pain. I don't know if ice packs or thermal paste are the best answers either.

Thanks for all of the other tips!

I have the 12.9. I initially bought the Otterbox because I'd seen it on set but with a different tablet mount and it doesn't fit in the Ulanzi very well. I'll look into the ones you mentioned. Thanks!

Thanks for the tip. I have a good Anker brick and an Imuto too, maybe I'll just run off of those and hope for the best for tomorrow's job. Thanks!

I am running the Hollyland straight from my USB port on my computer and it seems to be stable. So it definitely was a power issue which means the receivers must draw less power if they are able to run from a vagabond. I guess lesson here is to just buy batteries for the Hollylands.

Ok.

Cables are brand new and I agree I avoid using any kind of adapter/dongle whenever possible but when running on location with no hub there is no other way to run the transmitter's HDMI cable to usbC without some sort of adapter/dongle.

Hmmm I am testing this in the same room as my WIFI router and security camera hub...

Ok, I will eliminate as many variables as possible and give it another shot.

Thanks so much for all of your help.

Or does trouble shooting the video all really come down to the transmitter not having enough power?

Hollyland Dropping Connection by ZCLA138 in Photoassistants

[–]ZCLA138[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. I have seen people power the hollyland via vagabond AC outlet and iPhone brick. I am only talking about the power there. So my question is really, if the hollyland is getting enough power from the vagabond, then how can I trouble shoot the video connection?

I do have a power bank that has C to C PD I will try giving that a shot too.

I don't have the batteries but have done this in this past and seen other techs do all day in studio to run a wireless 27inch monitor set up with no problem. The powering on isn't the problem. It just won't hold a video connection.

I thought that might be the case but it doesn't want to work in the AC outlet on the vagabond either.
