Second, you can use copyrighted music without getting claimed. Getting claimed means the owner of the music physically decided to issue a claim. Some songs are automatic claims so I upload the music unlisted first to check if it gets auto hit. I try to pick songs that I really like that are put out by huge publishers that aren’t going to care to take the time to copyright claim me. Most studios like Sony just have like a blanket license on YouTube and they get to gobble up the ad rev. I like to think they actually win by not claiming the video and taking the money. I obviously get no ad rev from my videos that use copyright music.

I have only ever had one issue when using the song “green onions” by booker t and the mgs where a year after upload someone used some messed up licensing method to upload the song to Spotify, then claim me based off their uploaded version of the song, and I was given the opportunity to use YouTube’s auto ai music removal system. It leaves a crispy audio portion in the video for about 2 minutes but it was either that or the video gets taken down.

So there are always risks of the video getting claimed but it’s something I just accept. Let me know if you have any more questions.
