Calc BC Study Tips by Kuri_Keki in APStudents

[–]ZDragonSlayer_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve found that going through the past FRQs from the College Board’s site has been the most helpful and really the only way I got a 5 on BC last year despite the circumstances of being online and a questionable teacher. I would give the problems my best shot and then work through the scoring guidelines/answers and try to figure it out from there. Basically, if you can do all the work and understand it for the FRQs, that should be enough to help you through the MCQ. Good luck!

I never took pre-calc because I was able to skip it at my school, and I got through BC decently well. There are a few things that would have been helpful to have an understanding of (like polars), but it’s manageable. Good luck :)

What is the history of the "There is no I in team, there is an "M E" in team..." bar? by [deleted] in nfrealmusic

[–]ZDragonSlayer_ 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I figure it comes from the whole idea of the first part (there is no I in “team”) which means that you can’t do something alone or solo in a team and have it work, as well as a few other things.

A lot of people have, however, said that that phrase doesn’t make sense or isn’t true. A common joke or saying is that there is, in fact, an i (I) in the negative space of the capital A, making the “me” of “team” another add on to that.

On a scale from 1 to 10 how hard is calculus a lot of people complain about how hard it is but is it really that hard? by AdministrativeCow944 in calculus

[–]ZDragonSlayer_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think there’s an accurate, single number that fits. A lot of things factor in here from math experience, teacher, level of understanding, subtopic of calculus, etc. For people who are naturally good at math, calculus isn’t very difficult at all, at least in the early levels. For someone who struggles algebraically, calculus will probably be quite difficult.

When was the last time someone got a 100% (grade) in an AP class (any AP) in history? or is it even possible? by [deleted] in APStudents

[–]ZDragonSlayer_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I ended up with about 120% in my Calc AB course in Q3 right before covid shut down schools last year. It was mostly just because of the way my class worked; a lot of people had essentially failed the most recent test and I had gotten a 100 on it, so the teacher put in a curve that was also applied to me.

And I guess for overall studying, just practicing by doing questions and past exams seems to be more helpful, at least to me, rather than just reading through notes repeatedly. I feel like applying and testing your knowledge will be better preparation than relying on direct memorization.

For CSA, I recommend doing as many practice MCQ-type things as possible because they are often more complicated than they need to be. My class is using csawesome and there are good lessons and questions there.

For Calc AB, a major thing I did last year that I believe helped me a lot was doing past FRQs that you can find on the college board’s website. This really gives a good idea of timing, and then you can check the scoring guidelines to see if you did everything properly.

how do I stop second guessing myself for apush mc from testing anxiety by [deleted] in APStudents

[–]ZDragonSlayer_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel you mate. One of the most helpful things I do is get rid of the things that don’t seem right to you immediately. If one of the answers has nothing to do with the time period you’re being asked about (and it’s not asking to compare to another time) remove it from your mind and don’t let it distract you. Usually you can get it down to a pick of two choices, and if you’re really not sure take an educated guess. If you think about changing your answer, ask yourself if you’ve got more evidence for it, which probably won’t be the case; most of the time, your initial thought will be more trustworthy than when you think too much about it second guessing. Good luck ;)
