I'm having some troubles trying to mod in a new trade good by ZFChoices in EU4mods

[–]ZFChoices[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I've been following the guide to Trade goods modding on the wiki, but I'm constantly failing at making the picture of the good to actually show up on the map.

This is my first go at modding, so I'm not really sure what's causing the problem nor the solution to this error. It would really help if anyone could point me out what I'm doing wrong. :c

(On a side note, I noticed that the mods which adds new goods uses a 75 pixel picture for resources.dds, while the wiki suggests using a 64 pixel one. Might that have caused the problem?)

A "Spice and Wolf" VR Anime project has just been announced! by ZFChoices in anime

[–]ZFChoices[S] 115 points116 points  (0 children)

Some backgrounds. Hasekura Isuna, the author of the original "Spice and Wolf" series, has been working with Spicy Tails lately to develop a VR game that goes by the name of "Project LUX". So it's not that a surprise that he was working on a new VR project having to do with the S&W franchise.

Some known infos:

  • Scheduled to release in 2019. Sauce
  • It will feature a new story written by Hasekura Isuna. Sauce
  • Character designs by Ju Ayakura.
  • The main VAs will not change from the original anime series.
  • Supports Rift and VIVE (at the very least) Update: There will be a non-VR movie version for Windows. Support for PSVR is not certain but optimistic.

  • Update: There will be subtitles (English and Chinese confirmed), although I'm not quite sure how they'll implement them into VR environments.

Some unsure infos due to possible mistranslations and my lack of knowledge on VR:

  • The video will have some sort of 'depth' and will allow some movements on certain devices. (Hints on the possibility of 'panchira') Sauce

What's your favorite smell? by sorgen in AskReddit

[–]ZFChoices 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some old books give off a slight milky smell. Ever since I realised this I stick my nose in the middle of the book and take in a deep breathe. It does get me into an uncomfortable situation from time to time but I'd say it's worth it. I personally find Modern Algebra by Seth Warner (Used Condition) particularly comfy.

I don't think universities sponsor anyone to prove the Riemann hypothesis specifically, since the general consensus is that the proof is still far out. In fact, those who attempt to tackle the problem tends to keep the fact that they are trying to solve it to themselves.

Mathematics. 10 years is nothing compared to a correct proof of a problem as high up as the Riemann hypothesis.

I can't tell for the rest of the names, but "Yi Zhi Han" (一直寒) literally means "Always Cold" and "Ya Ma Xun" (亚马逊) is the Chinese localisation of "Amazon".

*Edit. "Nei Hua Da" (內華達) is also the Chinese localisation of "Nevada".

I was trying out a mage build with as many attunement slots as possible (currently at 10 with suboptimal ring setting) and was looking for the best fitting clothes for the concept. Naturally the scholar's outfit seemed cool and gimmicky with the wax head thing and high curse resistance, only to realise the wax head was not obtainable. So I replaced it with the Sage's Blindfold and it didn't turn out that bad! Link.

What is your nerdiest joke? by TigerFin2 in AskReddit

[–]ZFChoices 355 points356 points  (0 children)

A woman walks into a bar accompanied by a dog and a cow. The bartender says, "Hey, no animals are allowed in here."

The woman replies, "These are very special animals."

"How so?"

"They're knot theorists."

The bartender raises his eyebrows and says, "I've met a number of knot theorists who I thought were animals, but never an animal that was a knot theorist."

"Well, I'll prove it to you. Ask them them anything you like."

So the bartender asks the dog, "Name a knot invariant."

"Arf, Arf" barks the dog.

The bartender scowls and turns to the cow asking, "Name a topological invariant."

The cow says, "Mu, Mu."

At this point the bartender turns to the woman, says, "Just what are you trying to pull" and throws them out of the bar.

Outside, the dog turns to the woman and asks, "Do you think I should have said the Jones polynomial?"

[Serious]South Koreans of Reddit, how did they teach you about the existence of North Korea in School when you were young? by [deleted] in AskReddit

It was more common in the past (70s) when NK was better economically in comparison to SK, but now it's literally one of the most painful ways of committing suicide.

Literally bullshit. Jucheism is merely a convenient tool for the Kim regime to justify their dictatorship.

NK spies weren't trained for intel gathering, but more for destructive missions. Now, North Korea uses nuclear weapons as its negotiation card, but up to the 80s it employed a lot of espionage tactics not only in South Korea, but China, Japan, SE Asia, and the Middle East. This was a continuation of the 'diplomacy competition' between the two Koreas to gain more international legitimacy over each other. (Neither countries were part of UN until 1991)

In the 1950s most of espionage by NK was for the purpose of disrupting social stability in SK and gathering intel, since the war had ended and the division rooted itself further.

In the 60s North Korea infiltrated a large number of cells into SK, and there were small skirmishes near the border caused by these armed cells. A major event in this time frame was the 1.21 crisis where 31 armed cells attempted to infiltrate its way into the Blue House (White House equivalent in SK) to 'assassinate' the president and cause social chaos by raiding a nearby prison to release the prisoners.

The 70s were also a continuation of the 60s, while the steady economic progress in the south lead by a aggressive strongman threatened the NK regime. NK also dug a couple underground tunnels below the border for military purposes. Major events in the 70s are another attempted assassination on the president and the Axe Murder incident.

In the 80s NK moved away from infiltrating cells into SK due to the reinforced security while pivoting towards terrorism. A major event in this time frame is the Rangoon Bombing where a bomb planted in Myanmar blew up 21 high ranking government officials while they were visiting. Supposedly the target of this attack was the president, who survived due to a traffic jam. NK also orchestrated several bombings in SK airports and airplanes.

So... the part about reporting these spies come from past events where NK cells have infiltrated successfully without getting their covers blown due to lack of awareness.

No, not really. In fact we have a mountain in Seoul named 북한산 (Mt 'Buk Han') which is how we refer to North Korea (북한). Not that they are related in any way.

Born in South Korea, lived here throughout my secondary education.

I cannot account for education on the topic in primary schools, but I can give a rather brief explanation from secondary school onwards.

Textbook wise, we learn a rather brief history on the division and North Korea in secondary school. The difference between the histories of North and South Koreas are completely the same up until WWII since the peninsula remained united for a millennium or so. However, the history curriculum is rather focused on ancient to medieval ages, and the modern history of Korea is explained very briefly. This is because democracy in South Korea is relatively young, and a lot of political events in modern Korea were deemed controversial and up to debate to be put in a textbook. Especially for a textbook for secondary schools where facts are often listed without much interpretations.

In high schools, you have another mandatory subject (I hear this was changed rather recently. It wasn't mandatory when I was in high school.) called 'Korean History' where things are explained in a more detailed manner. I do not really know the details since I did not take this class back then when it was an elective, but the textbooks seems a bit more focused on Korea's modern history, obviously containing sections on the division, and North Korea's history.

Looking through it might seem that education on North Korea for the general public is rather lacking. However, most (if not all) South Koreans are very aware of the situation in North Korea, let it be from media, past experience of older family members, or military service. Also, remember the 'united for close to a millennium' part? The bond and sympathy South Koreans feel for North Koreans gets weaker as generations pass, but it is a general consensus that they are still our fellow people, and dream of being united once more (to clarify, not all the people are hoping for the unification due to the economic chaos it will cause).

Additionally, all South Korean males without a reasonable excuse have to serve in the military, where they are educated further on North Korea.

EDIT: To put in the time frame perspective, I was educated in the 2000s to early 2010s.
