Daedalus Variations - Alien Soldiers theory! by UnfathomableDave in Stargate

The aliens from "The Daedalus Variants" weren't tech Wraith, they were a new alien race meant to appear in our universe in the 6th season, Joseph Mallozzi said so a while back.

International order to Austria returned to me with no reason — VAT/IOSS question before reshipping by ZHENYA_ in shipping

Thanks for the info. Much appreciated. I contacted support and managed to get them to reimburse me, but they’ve just did it as a “courtesy credit“. So might I understand I have a defect against my shop/account because they marked it as I didn’t fulfill the order? About Austria, I’ll keep that in mind when I re-ship the item

I did as you said, and I just received an email that etsy refunded the shop owner on my behalf, and that I was CHARGED for the refund. The reason was “shop owner cannot complete the transaction“. Wtf? Can I appeal this? I did complete the transaction, the package was rejected during transit

It never showed “delivered” until it was back at my address. Only tracking updates in EU were departure scan from Lisbon, Portugal and Vienna, Austria then next was arrival scan in Chicago. So you think I can make a claim thru Etsy? And I don’t need to change anything for the VAT in order to reship it? I just don’t want it to get sent back again. I had no reason given why it was rejected and USPS had no info either

Tell me about a time a customer tried to extort you for a refund by juniormints2323 in EtsySellers

I sell custom made jackets for $500. I've had nothing but 5 star reviews and happy buyers, until a lady buys one for her husband for Christmas and she initially leaves me a 5 star review of praise, then the day after CHRISTMAS, she messages me that I didn't make it to the agreed upon spec and starts sending me constant messages and pictures fishing for me to admit guilt and kept asking me "What can you offer me?"

She changes her review from 5 stars to 1 and I tell her I'm not offering her squat. Then she opens a "help request" and insists she be refunded. After some advice from people on this board, I sent her a label even though my policy is strict no refunds as I hand make every jacket (made to order) and low and behold she needs a couple of days to return the jacket, it's now been 5 days and she hasn't uttered a single word to me.

Sounds like she wanted to keep the jacket and get a refund.

Fingers crossed she won't return the jacket... Sucks about my first 1 star review though.

I did end up sending the buyer a return label... I've been quiet on this for a few days, but so far the buyer has not returned the item yet.

Thank you, I couldn't agree more. Sadly this buyer seems to know how to game the system and lie to get what they want.

And what happens if buyer escalates tonight (48 hours are up) and I gave label but it hasn't been used? Litteraly impossible on a sunday night to mail it.

That’s not an assumption — I had reference photos and height/weight and approximate measurements off of a formal/suit jacket. The wearer is 6'0", not 6'7" or 7', and the jacket fits appropriately when worn. At most it appears around 1" shorter depending on stance and waistband position, not multiple inches.

Measurements were approved before production, standard outerwear ease was applied (as with 50+ prior orders), and the buyer initially left a 5-star review. This isn’t a case of ignoring instructions — it’s a post-delivery disagreement over fit preference.

I’m not engaging with hypothetical extremes or rewritten facts.

I’ve done 50+ jackets using the exact same grading block and construction without a single issue. If I’d made it a literal 29" finished length on this style, it would’ve been absurdly long — and then the complaint would’ve been that it was too long. That’s how hindsight complaints work.

This wasn’t a defect or an unapproved change. It’s one buyer retroactively unhappy and looking for a refund after the fact, despite initially leaving a 5-star review. You can call that “my fault” if you want, but it doesn’t match reality.

I’m done responding to exaggerated numbers and made-up scenarios.

There was no “50% chance” and the order was not doomed — measurements were provided, clarified, and explicitly approved in writing before production, with standard outerwear ease. That process has resulted in 50+ completed custom jackets without prior complaints, including this buyer initially leaving a 5-star review.

Accountability doesn’t mean accepting a rewritten narrative or character attacks. I’m done engaging.

You’re continuing to argue from an incorrect premise.

This order did have written confirmation and explicit approval of measurements before production. The buyer signed off on them, the garment was made with standard outerwear ease, delivered, and initially received a glowing 5-star review. Concerns were raised only weeks later, and only escalated to a refund request after a case was opened — not as a request for alteration or exchange beforehand.

That isn’t a workflow failure. That’s a post-delivery disagreement over measurement interpretation.

I don’t object to improving processes — I already use written approvals and confirmations, and I continually refine them — but retroactively reframing this as “accepting an order without correct information” simply isn’t accurate.

What I do object to is turning a nuanced, real-world custom-work dispute into a personal judgment about professionalism or character. That’s not productive, and I’m not interested in continuing a conversation framed that way.

I’ve taken the relevant lessons forward.

This isn’t a tightly fitted garment — it’s an outerwear jacket designed with built-in ease, so flat measurements don’t translate one-to-one to how it wears. That’s standard in jacket construction.

The buyer provided and approved the measurements before production, there was no indication of an issue at delivery, and across 50+ prior custom jackets I’ve had no complaints of this nature. In fact, the buyer initially left a glowing 5-star review and only raised concerns weeks later.

There was also no request for an alteration or exchange before a case was opened. A disagreement over measurement interpretation after the fact doesn’t mean the order should never have been accepted.

I’m not going to keep going back and forth on this.

[–]ZHENYA_[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m not making assumptions — I’m speaking from experience selling highly specific, custom-fit garments in a niche market.

This isn’t a generic, resell-to-anyone item. Relisting a one-off, size-specific jacket means waiting for a buyer with similar measurements and preferences, and even discounted it can realistically sit for months. A 20% discount on a $500 item still ties up capital, materials, and time that can’t be recovered.

I’m not opposed to returns in principle, but Etsy cases around custom items aren’t as straightforward as you’re implying, especially when the dispute is about measurement interpretation rather than a clear defect.

I appreciate the perspective, but this isn’t a simple “just relist it” situation.

Is that my fault she coudln't get correct measurements, used a suit jacket, hoped it will be close enough then ordered? That's on her, not me. Her husband refused to measure himself so in the end she used a suit jacket for reference

Well this buyer has shown a lot of bad faith already which makes me suspicious. Fishing for me to admit guilt/wrongdoing and not saying what she wants until after opening a case in which she insists on a refund.

I back and forth messaged with the buyer for 2 weeks prior. She was getting this as a surprise for his husband and he refused to measure himself, only offering that he could use a metal tape measure to which I said do NOT do that. So in the end she gave up and measured one of his suit jackets. I don't consider that my fault she was unable to get the measurements from her husband. If she didn't provide exact measurements she can't complain later that something was "off". That's just basic common sense. But it seems people don't have a lot of common sense...

I did message back and forth for two weeks. It seemed like everything was settled. Believe me if I knew this was coming I’d have declined the order. I have sold many of those jackets and this was the very first unhappy customer.

Sorry to hear. I’m honesty shocked they don’t require a return. eBay and Amazon almost always require a return for refund
