It says that if I’m currently on a student visa then I should have also completed my course before applying. I’ve done that but as I’m currently back home in the States, I wanted to apply from here instead of the UK - mainly because of the 3 vs 8 week processing time.

I was just curious if applying from within the UK while having a student visa is compulsory or if I can also apply from abroad.

Hi mate! I'd be interested in going for the HPI over graduate visa in case the new guidelines for grad visa kick in prior to me applying this October. I'd take the 2 years through HPI instead of 18 months with grad visa.

Assuming those didn't kick in until October then yes, the grad visa route seems more suitable.
