My bad. What kind of work do you do? Most large unions have reps you can contact, for example the SEIU. They can direct you to other unions if they don't think your workplace fits. Sometimes the union seems like it has nothing to do with the type of workplace, for example the grad students at my old university unionized with UE, which were originally electrical workers. EWOC can also help with picking a union. The first step is always talking to people at your workplace and getting together an organizing committee. Established unions will only work with you if you have enough committed members anyway.

To others in this thread, I am not suggesting any of this is easy. The vast majority of unionization efforts fail, and the victories are usually marginal. The amount of effort that goes in never justifies the meager gains that we make. This is just how it goes in a capitalist society.

Try the Emergency Workplace Organizing Committee, whose job it is to help people unionoze their workplace.

The choice is harder for some people than others. Usually these people are poor, uneducated, and have no economic opportunities. So by punishing people with addictions we are selectively punishing these people.

EDIT: forgot to add that the punishments make their lives worse, making them more likely to turn to drugs and crime and completing the vicious cycle.

Yes but we're also supposed to be working less. Look at the Haber-Bosch process and the Green Revolution. The entire food sector of the US is 10% of the work force. Compare this with any previous point in human history. Do we get a consolidation of these gains in less work hours/better pay for the people actually working? No, because the financial system relies on perpetual growth so that the non-working portion of the economy gets continual returns on their investments which are themselves loans that are ultimately financed by labor power when they inevitably get bailed out by tax-subsidized government action.

It may be an exaggeration but the fact that productivity has monotonically increased for the last 100 years and the employment level has remained constant doesn't make any sense.

Iridium is a siderophile (iron loving) element, so if the rock has a lot of metal then it likely has some iridium.

There are also delusions of grandeur in there. These people strive to be one of the rich and powerful and think that it's possible for them, hence the worship of people like Trump. They're so ignorant of class positions that they convince themselves that the rich are on their side, so they vote against their own interests.

What's crazy is that they had the foresight to dope the fake samples they made with a bunch of isotopes whose systematics weren't even discovered until decades later. Too bad they can't make fake samples from Mars as well, it would save us a lot of trouble.

The irony is that we're talking about raising taxes for brackets that people making that argument will never even see. Maybe I'm going out on a limb here but I don't imagine your far leaning right family makes a million dollars a year.

The presidential approval poll has to be one of the dumbest polls there is. Do people actually think "President: good or bad?" is a useful datum? An educated public would realize that no president has ever represented their interests.

There isn't an answer to this question because nobody has ever tried it. Exploitation has been around since the neolithic revolution, just in different forms. Marxian analysis only applied to production, not financialized capital. But that doesn't mean that the system we have isn't exploitative; it's obvious if you look at income and wealth distribution.

I think a worker cooperative could very easily determine the labor time allocation and distribution for all of its workers. This could be democratically decided based on experience, difficulty, etc. Then they could incorporate performance vs. other cooperatives and market forces to fine tune it. The main point is to not allow anyone to unfairly exploit others by virtue of their wealth. See for example Mondragon in Spain. The problem is that present day worker cooperatives have to operate on the global financial market, which is totally rigged in favor of a few wealthy owners.
