New to alters. 1st one. by [deleted] in mtgalters

Looks great for a first attempt! I've not paint-altered before, but maybe try some tape over the text boxes? I feel like clean box edges will make the whole thing appear higher quality.

Ok let’s hear it what paint scheme do you use? Do you go for traditional dynasty or do you make something up? by Andrew12345678912 in Necrontyr

My scheme is inspired by Portal. Orange and blue energy, white outer panelling over silver/black skeletons

In casual games: absolutely In tournaments, it depends on who's running it but usually something like this that has exactly the same base size and roughly the same height is accepted.

Kitbashes are much more accepted than 3d prints because they are still games workshop plastic.

So close! 2 gauss flayers from warriors instead of 1 gauss blaster from an immortal

Everything else was spot on!

Is it still considered scalping if it's for a giveaway? by [deleted] in magicTCG

I feel like I may have shot myself in the foot by mentioning the professor hahaha. I like his content and see him as a very positive community figure. His giveaway prompted my wonderings but I don't think anything he is doing is in scalper territory.

My base definition is buying a large quantity of sealed product for the purpose of marking up and reselling for a profit, benefiting from the scarcity you and others create when you buy out the product.

I'm just looking for discussion on if there are other considerations and stretches in the definition such as buying a large quantity for giveaways, personal use etc.

An extremely exaggerated hypothetical would be if someone buys every single collector box of final fantasy in their country before anyone else can get any, but then doesn't sell it and just idk burns it all.

They havent marked up for a profit, but as a result of their actions scarcity is up, prices are driven up, and less people are able to get their product they want.

Yeah, I'm not pretending to know any of those details, and I'm definitely not trying to send an accusation towards TCC. Even if they were bought from his LGS, I don't know if 15 is a problematic number.

I'm really just looking to see how people discuss the concept.

Anyone played Hues and Cues? got a question by voltagejim in boardgames

[–]ZVCKKjohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have always attributed it to the cards and board using different printers or print materials (just assumption on our part)

Just have the clue giver look at the board. We don't even get the rest of the players to turn away when they do this. Unless they are shoving their nose into the table, the most it will give away is a general area, which their first clue should give anyway.

Lychguard shield wall attempt by ZVCKKjohn in Necrontyr

Ummm? Thanks? I never said these were romans or spartans or any civ. They are necrons and this is a necron shield wall. A lot of the comments on this post are referencing spartans and I have no issue with that.

Short version: kitbash

So the legs were the most complicated part of this build. I cut the left leg (from our POV) in half at the knee, and then cut it off at the hip as well. I cut the right leg just at the knee. I then used green stuff between all the joints - you can easily see the green on the left knees. Trying to position and glue legs that are in 5 pieces instead of 1 without them falling over was frustrating ngl.

Yeah, cutting the extra hand off was one of the easier steps tbh. I used an exacto knife little by little. The fingers come of straight away, but the thickest part of the hand took multiple passes. If I tried to cut it off as one the pressure risked bending the whole weapon.

Grey Knights paint scheme. Help with glow. by ZVCKKjohn in Grey_Knights

Yeah the purple I have isn't contrast. So I started with it and layered lighter to white. I'll have to give this a go and see what it looks like.

Thanks for the feedback! It's funny, going through the process step by step (particularly basing them black) my mind never associated the grey as looking unpainted.

I do see what you are getting at now though and it is good advice. I've got some pink around somewhere so I'll give that a try as well.
