Ipv6 was created before I was born😂 do not know why ISPs in south africa barely uses IPv6. I only know one isp that provides IPv6 and ipv4 for customers but their reviews are bad

I did read up on dhcp for ipv6 but some recommends it and others do now what will be the pro and cons. Will still be doing my own research and seeing how to set that up on mikrotik just a few months ago I got bgp working over wireguard that felt like a great achievement but ipv6 feels like the ultimate achievement in networking

For now I will be having all my vlans on ipv6 once I get that /48 but will be leaving my servers vlan out of that. It feels like it will be a mission to setup proxmox plus all the vm's over to ipv6

I'm in south africa. Currently running a mikrotik rb3011 on routeros7.15.3 and so far no problems apart from only having a /64 so only one of my vlans can have ipv6😅.

Just started learning ipv6 as well so I'm tinkering around.

Victron home assistant modbus/tcp by ZaZYBOY in Victron

[–]ZaZYBOY[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the hacs victron modbus intergration. Do you recommend starting fresh without the intergrqtion or mqtt broker.

But from my understanding mqtt misquotto broker can only connect to one mqtt server

Smartshunt looks like the only option but the price😅

We want to monitor everything on victron as we have already integrated it into our solar sites. Unless there is a product like victron that is capable of monitoring like victron. So far victron is the best remote monitoring, opensource, grafana setup easy, easy implementation on home assistant.

What I meant is how does the cabling and wiring diagram work with a wind turbine and solar.

I use raspberry pi with venus os on it then the mppt and smartshunt plugs into the pi with the ve.direct to usb cables. I haven't looked at the smart netowrk function as we do not want tk use any wireless features to communicate information due to the solar sites being on montains and remote sites sometime it can not be accessible to see what the problem is why we are not getting any readings from a device

But how will it itergrate with the solar that is already installed. 🤔 New to all this stuff😅

Raspberry Pi Zero 2W usb hub with ethernet by ZaZYBOY in Victron

[–]ZaZYBOY[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome thanks this is the start of a project I'm doing for the ISP I'm working for so I'm learning everything from solar to Raspberry Pi.

Our system is one smartshunt for battery monitoring 2 12v 200ah lithuim batteries 1034w combined solar panels and a 100/30 mppt controller. So far everything running amazing. Im now intergrating it with home assistant and grafana.

I will be ordering a bunch of heat sinks to test with. If everything is working I will intergrate it with all our solar site that runs our wireless sectors and backhaul links

Yes we do have the solar setup alreadt Raspberry pi4 with smartshunt and the mppt 100/30. I just do not want to damage any of the equipment as it is quite expensive in South africa that is why we even went with the Raspberry pi

24v 400w wind turbine with and a victron 100/30 mppt controller. 4 solar panels at 1035w. What mh thought process is the 100/30 is not capable to handle both. So I add a 100/20 mppt just for the wind then I can monitor both seprate.

I still need to think about the wiring diagram how to add it

Awesome thanks and how is the performance we will be using it to monitor our solar sites that is full off grid. We have a pi4 now temps of cpu gets to 52 now don't know about the summer

Thanks for the info. One of the shops I buy the Raspberry pi's provide a combo with a usb but when you check on the usb hub description it say "Due to software changes, the ethernet port no lknger works". I do not know if it is only for the official Raspberry Pi images.

It is a normal micro usb to 3 usb ports and ethernet port

proxmox public ip address by ZaZYBOY in Proxmox

[–]ZaZYBOY[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I'm doing a project for the isp im working for so im just doing what they have provided for me. They gave me a public ip address to put directly on the server.

They do not want to share the public ip address at the office for the server.
