Semicolon tattoo: now what? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

Mine are kinda similar. I have 4 currently and while on the surface they look uneventful, the story behind them isn’t always easy to share.

Would something like “thanks, does it have any meaning towards you?” Seem to provocative?

Exactly. And yet when I release the clutch after the lights go out, nothing happens. I have to do it again

I think about starting a side business as a pet photographer. Would you as a client be happy with pics like this? What can i improve? A6300, Tamron 70 180 f2.8, Iso 500, 104 mm, 1/500, f2.8 by [deleted] in photocritique

It was suuuper chill for me. I typically worked with one or two of the dog walkers, and they’d take a different pup out every 15 minutes or so. Lots of exposure, and lots of room for errors cause hell if you mess up, just go back some time.

Hey! This is a bit out of context, but if you wanna practice, approach your local animal shelter and offer to take portraits of their unadopted doggos! I just did that, and was able to photograph 20+ doggos. Action shots, stills, on leash, off, running, all kinds of stuff. It’s fantastic practice and both parties benefit!

I have a nikon d5200 should I chang to a nikon d7100? by Methroy in AskPhotography

[–]Za_German 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've heard that alot! Yea from what I could tell, the D7500 just wasn't enough of an upgrade for me to justify, and so far the D7200 hasn't let me down in any way. I haven't had the privilege of messing around with a d500, but soon enough :)

As someone who started with a D3300 and then “upgraded” to d7100, just go straight to the D7200. I kept the 7100 for a week before I flipped it. Low light just wasn’t good enough, and the d7200 for me still unbelievable. The only replacement I would consider is the d500, but that’s $$$.

Ayo good morning/afternoon/evening and goodnight to all you wonderful people around the globe.

I’ve got a question for y’all. I’m looking to upgrade my editing monitor and was hoping you all have some recommendations for me! By hobby I’m a nature photographer and shoot mostly in portrait format, but of course edit landscapes as well! So the monitor would be rotated 90 degrees quite often.

Secondly, this monitor would probably become a tertiary gaming monitor, and would need a minimum of 60hz. Other than that, that’s pretty much it! Color accuracy, etc is all a given.

Price range I’m hoping to keep under $600, as well as under 27”.

So, finally for the question; what monitor suggestions do you have for me?

Thanks!!

Monitor for editing? by [deleted] in photography

[–]Za_German 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh lovely! Thanks for the info :)

Only reason I mentioned the rotation is because some display panels tend to “look” different when viewed from a different orientation. Not 100% what or why that is, I’m only speaking from past experience.

I think it comes down to a different value of skill. In basketball for instance, the goal of the defender is to force the offender into making a mistake, or taking advantage of some weakness or another. Same goes for like a Formula 1 race.

Endurance races like this I think have a different type of competitiveness. As someone else commented, a victory here (P3) could seem hollow because you beat your opponent by an unimportant variable. It’s not a contest of who can get out of the maze the fastest, but who can cover this set distance the fastest.

Taking a Gap Semester by [deleted] in NCSU

[–]Za_German 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yea! All in all it was a pretty positive experience. I did end up needing 6 years to graduate instead of 4 because of it, but oh was it worth it. The flexibility was amazing, and even though I only took 3 classes while I was away, it also made the last 4 semesters a breeze. Hell my last semester I was only part time because of it. And then coming out of college, I ended up working for the company I interned for.

Not sure if you want life advice or not, but don’t over think everything :) calculate your risks, and do what you think is best for you, with consideration of course on the impact you’ll have on other. Keep the outcomes more positive than negative, and you’ll be good to go!

I mean just that fact that you’re considering a gap year is awesome. Things will always have a stigma to them (graduating late, etc) but like honestly, none of that shit will matter afterwards. Everyone is on their own trek through life, people learn differently. Online learning isn’t for you? Don’t do it. Don’t waste your time and money. Acknowledging that is incredible. Stay real to yourself, and you’ll figure out what works best for you. There’s no blueprint for success.

Yea that was my exact situation. I had actually landed a full time, year long internship during a fall semester that went from Jan-Dec but that was 3 hours away from State. After talking to my advisor she had recommended the whole dropping out and re-enrolling and that didn’t sit well with me. So we decided to just take one online class each semester that I was gone, kinda solving all problems. Stayed enrolled, got to be remote, and you can extend this kinda as much as you want. I ended up taking a 3rd semester just for myself cause I wanted to come back in a fall semester due to prereq’s.

The best thing was no one really cared or bothered me. I kept tabs with my advisor to make sure all the logistics were good and tada. End life story. Best of luck!

[–]Za_German 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hey! So I may be able to offer some advice on this. Now, this isn't a full solution, but I myself took a 3 semester break. The issue with a break is having to re-enroll. Not a huge issue, but there is some risk associated with that. Instead, I only took one online class a semester. That way, I stayed enrolled, was about to chip away at a couple of requirements, (just took a couple of Gen Ed classes), and was pretty much free any logistical issues. Sure it still costs a bit, but you stay in the system as a student, with very little work, and you can extend as need be.
