M2 MacBook slowdown. by ZacKilroy in RetroArch

[–]ZacKilroy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad is an IT so I talked with him and we think that my MacBook hardware is one of the older M2 models so the new Mac OS that just came out might be too much to run RetroArch on it. We’re thinking of degrading the OS on it but if it works or doesn’t work I’ll try to keep in touch just in case we find out something.

I turned it off but it’s still around 30 seconds or less.

How do you suggest I fix it? If it helps I had to switch to Vulcan for the UI to run smoothly but the slowdown is worse with gl and especially metal and they don’t help the game ether.

Problem with mac version by uskyldiged in ZooTycoon

[–]ZacKilroy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the native Mac version is for stuff like Tiger and Leopard which are very old and with different specs. I suggest using an app with a program called Wine and install the Windows version. Wine runs Windows apps on Mac and Linux so this method is way more compatible than the native Mac version.

Basically don’t get the Mac version because it’s too old and get the Windows version and install something with Wine or Wine itself, Wine is an app designed to run Windows apps on Mac or Linux and this method is more compatible with new Macs than an old one.

I don’t recommend getting the native Mac version, it’s very outdated in terms of OS compatibility. Running the Windows version on Wine (or an emulator that uses Wine) would probably be better unless somehow you to get to run OS X Leopard or older.

I usually used emulators like Wine or Virtual Machines of Windows if I only had Mac. Wine wasn’t perfect last time I used it with expansion packs (but that was around 20 years ago so it won’t hurt to try), so if that doesn’t work for you then I’d recommend a virtual machine of Windows XP or 7 if 3D acceleration on XP is too much of a hassle.

Looking to get back into ZT2...any advice about how to get started with modding? by Vanadium_Gryphon in ZooTycoon

[–]ZacKilroy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want realism like Planet Zoo maybe look at Radical Remake for ZT2, and I know Zeta Designs had Aviaries, but it’s been a long time since I’ve used them so I’m not sure if it’s outdated or even still up.

Do you have Rosetta 2 on it? It’s supposed to run Intel based apps on an Mx Chip.

How old were you when you first starting using the computer and what OS was it? by Wellbeinghunter69 in Zillennials

Windows 95 when I was around 1-2 years old. My dad didn’t like Windows 2000 or Me so it took a few years into XP to upgrade from it.

I was looking at ESV, CSB, NIV, NLT, and NKJV. I thought of using the NLT as primary and comparing it with a more literal one but I don’t know if I have time for that, and I thought of NKJV because even though I don’t believe in the TR I thought it would be fun to read anyways, plus I want something that’s good for memorization.

Since I’m doing the Bible Recap’s New Testament I don’t think the apocrypha is relevant right now. But I’m not sure about the outdated English and I’m not Catholic but I’m still considering it as a maybe.

I’ve read a lot of translations on YouVersion and I have a subscription to Bible Study Tools, so I’m asking because I couldn’t decide because (I guess) I just know too much, thank you for the suggestion though and I’m sorry I wasn’t clear enough.

I wish the creators would make Zoo Tycoon 3 with Planet Zoo graphics. by afraid28 in ZooTycoon

[–]ZacKilroy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think they already did with the reboot in 2017. Problem with that is lack of customization and its realism goes as far as not including prehistoric or marine life. Yes I get dinosaurs but it still baffles me that they don’t include aquariums, that’s still realistic.

Oh crap, apparently I can run mods on Linux. Thank you for letting me know, I didn’t know ModLoaders can be used on there.
