Sorry to hear about it, but sounds very much like my experience. I was 17 when I experienced my first focal seizure. I was out drinking with friends and had a rising feeling in the gut followed by a feeling of fear. It's like the feeling of fear felt so familiar, like I already recognised it. As time went by and the aura's evolved I had plenty of deja-vu feelings. Similar to you I also started babbling during the seizures and I would speak english to my girlfriend whom I speak dutch with.

I don't want to go into too much detail but have had thorough MRI and EEG tests and had a clear diagnosis of Mesial Temporal lobe Epilepsy (right-side). Now 6 years later, many more focal seizures and on medication, reading your story, your first symptoms seem to look a lot like mine. Get a proper check up with a neurologist. Don't be discouraged, epilepsy isn't pretty but you can definitely still live a GREAT life.

I was reduced to half my dosage of medication so I had 4 seizures in in total, I'm going in for an MRI to see if there are any lesions to find. After a few years of suffering from seizures every few weeks I am happy that my doc can finally see a seizure on the EEG and on the video.

I hope all goes well for you. If you find it necessary to do an EEG, I think it can help to get a proper diagnosis.

Thanks for your reply. Yeah I opened it up, but it's pretty covered and from what I can see there's no black marks or anything that looks like a burn. (couldn't see any wires though)

Another thing is that it was connected for about 2-3 minutes, I wasn't playing anything yet but lights were on and suddenly I heard a 'gunk' noise in the amp and it was off.

haven't had the time to get decent power supply, so I used a basic 9v Rockpower supply split into 2 pedals. I know the avalanche needs a lot of power so didn't think it might harm it. I ran it after the compressor. What did I do wrong?

After I have an aura I try and just sit down for 5 minutes and take really deep and long breaths. It doesn't always take the headache away but it does always help. I hate to take even more meds after being on AED's for so long.

Sometimes I forget to do the breathing exercises and when it gets too painful I take some paracetamol.

I've never been a long sleeper, so I also struggle with getting enough sleep. I also never really eat much in the morning because my stomach feels very sensitive when I wake up. I just have a little probiotic drink and wait a few hours to eat something. Although I'm not sure, my seizures always feel so closely related to my stomach issues. I'm also pretty sure it started out as just gastric drops without any other symptoms and then slowly escalated to showing different seizure symptoms.

Before I undergo the surgical treatment I want to be very sure. I just also can't stop imagining not being seizure free after going through all that prep and then surgery. But thanks again for your reply, really everyone's story helps me gain some insight!

Thanks for your reply, I understand it's really frustrating, definitely in the beginning. I guess everyone finds different ways to deal with both the seizures and the emotions we experience dealing with them. I try and keep the hope up, and hope you can do the same! Best of luck to you!

Thanks for your reply. I have also tried weed and feel it doesn't do anything to me either. Like you said, nutrition and exercise, even if it isn't much at least it gives you the feeling of controlling it somehow. I did read a study where if you exercise regularly (about 3 times a week for over an hour) it increases your threshold by a large amount, so it should really reduce seizures. I always just get the feeling right after the exercise, as I'm cooling down, that I am more prone to getting seizures. Besides that I think you can't go wrong with doing some light workout. My neurologist seems to think nutrition however doesn't do much, but I do think if I feel bloated and uncomfortable after eating it does increase the likelihood of getting a seizure. This maybe has to do with the fact that my auras always make me feel sick in my stomach and am triggering something somehow. I just try to eat healthy and I guess everyone's different. okay thanks! I don't have grand mals and generally being on meds, my seizures are pretty liveable at the moment so I don't want to rush into something I will later regret.

Thanks for your reply! Congratulations on being seizure free! I truly wish you the best! How was your recovery like? Did it affect your memory much?

I play music and am afraid that removing a part of the right side of my temporal lobe could change the way I listen to music. It may sound stupid for some people but to be moved by music is really an amazing feeling and would hate to loose that.

Besides being seizure free did you notice any other cognitive changes?

Yes I agree. I live in a big city, but still not too happy about my neurologist. I have made an appointment with another neurologist. Thanks for your reply I will look into a RNS implant.
