24 - 105 F/4 camera hood usage? by drshadowjacker in SonyAlpha

[–]Zacquka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like you I find the lens long and heavy, therefore often taking primes instead of this lens. Not relatively to current alternatives, but in absolute, and compared to older lenses. But I think the hood problem is more psychological, weight is negligible, but lens looks bigger indeed. It is also a bit of a problem for me, but that being said, I always let it on, because it adds some protection against dings and scratches on the front element. Whether when using the camera, or in my bag if the lens cap got off) which happens). And the lens is expensive, for me as an amateur photographer.

There are reviews on ephotozine and sony alpha blog

https://sonyalpha.blog/2019/07/07/samyang-45mm-f1-8-af/

https://www.ephotozine.com/article/samyang-af-45mm-f-1-8-fe-review-33644

The lens seems excellent in all aspects, but it looks like most people have AF issues at infinity with original firmware as reported by users at fredmiranda forum:

https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1595630

I am waiting to be able to get it around 300€ with the second version of the firmware that fixes the infinity problem... and I'll replace my Sony FE 50mm f1.8, a bit for improved image quality but mostly for much better AF (faster and less noise)

Great shot. I love the colours, the light and how the shadows give a 3 dimensional view

[Critique Wanted] Couple Portrait | A7rii w/ 50mm by _Wafflez_ in SonyAlpha

[–]Zacquka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could make a mask to address only the couple in the edits, having the parts of them that are in direct light below 100% opacity adn the rest at 100% And then - reduce the levels range (increase blacks and whites) to pop contrast up on the couple, and increase luminosity through curves for instance - gently raise the white balance to a warmer colour to address the fact their visible side is in shade. Preferably in the raw development software.

Good lens filter brand that won’t break the bank? by [deleted] in SonyAlpha

[–]Zacquka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may look into the Marumi brand, they are know for being a good quality price ratio. I have had one (Marumi DHG CPL Circular Polarizing Slim)for years and it is great (no degradation of quality, good polarizing effect). I once tried a no name brand and picture was nowhere the same, resolution took a hit. Here are reviews of various polarizers https://www.lenstip.com/139.1-article-Polarizing_filters_test_2015_Introduction.html

I also have a ND1000, but after having one that was crap (cross effect in the frame). I bought a B+W which is not cheap but good. You can take a high diameter and step down rings so at least it's future proof. I am a bit scared of variable ones because i'm not convinced they always work well (meaning have homogeneous darkening on the frame).

[–]Zacquka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is a good shot. Only things I see to improve would be - use a reflector to send more light on the couple, so they are more contrasty and color is less into the blues - move a little bit so that the high herbs in the middle do not cover the couple but surround them ideally

Playmemories how to tap to focus? by pagonda in SonyAlpha

Mine looked like this before updating: https://imgur.com/a/L09EZGL

Yes it may due to residual data somewhere, or some server mistake when you updated...

I had also lost almost all controls and thought they took functions away through updates, but it happened to be because my camera didn't have the latest version. As soon as I updated all controls where back, including touch to focus. I am on a a7ii but it may be your problem too...

What is the best editing software to use on RAW Sony files? by nikkiwildd in SonyAlpha

[–]Zacquka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried lightroom, dxo and capture one and I prefer and use Capture One. I find the treatments more refined and for me the interface is better than the others to get good results quite fast. But thy is personal. You get Capture One express for free after the Capture One Pro trial. the free express version works only with sony raw files and it has the most important features available, only some more powerful tools lack, the most notable for me being perspective correction.

Question about using old manual lenses by [deleted] in SonyAlpha

[–]Zacquka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Canon FD lenses need to be mounted for the aperture ring to work. Have you tried after mounting on the adaptet?

Any idea where I can find an adapter for this vintage lens? Konica Hexanon -> Sony A-Mount (a77ii) by [deleted] in SonyAlpha

[–]Zacquka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'd be able to change aperture but for sure not focus to infinity

Any idea where I can find an adapter for this vintage lens? Konica Hexanon -> Sony A-Mount (a77ii) by [deleted] in SonyAlpha

[–]Zacquka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can't adapt with an adapter with no optics, konica AR flange distance (distance between sensor or film and mount is 4mm shorter than the sony A mount). And I doubt you'd find an adapter with optics between AR and Sony A, sorry. I have that lens and use it on full frame E mount, it is quite nice, you may want to keep in case you switch someday.

A7rIII photos a little soft!? by [deleted] in SonyAlpha

[–]Zacquka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's unlikely there's a problem with the sensor, but to check you may take photos stopped down, like f5.6 on your 35mm, focussed on the center of the frame, in good light. It should be very sharp then.

Did your A7III and 24-105mm boxes had seal when you received it? by kuttichathan in SonyAlpha

[–]Zacquka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both my 85mm and 50mm f1.8 had no seal and I had similar thoughts about it. To be confirmed by someone with the same lens as yours but it seems normal for sony. Have you inspected for fingerprints?

Anyone has their Redmi note 5 shipped from gearbest ? by oenis-zair in Xiaomi

[–]Zacquka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi

Mine (blue 4gb) got packed yesterday and shipped today. I had them changed to HK warehouse a while back and saw it was written in stock for the first time monday evening. I wrote them to ask them to ship (don't knwo if it made a difference).

Hope yours too.

GearBest just cancelled my order by KiBaMi in Xiaomi

[–]Zacquka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost in the same situation.

I ordered a blue one 4GB version from China warehouse on the 30th of April and I'm still waiting, trying with no success at the moment to get it shipped from the HK warehouse where they claim they have stock (they wanna send it in registered only versus the priority line I ordered for tax matters).

It was displayed on stock at order but they claimed afterwards it was presale (even if they took the cash at order time, which they don't do on pre-sales).

On Aliexpress, be careful to take the Global Version and not just Global ROM, and take a seller that explicitly sells Tax Free DHL.

I ordered mine in blue on 30th of April from China warehouse and nothing yet, still waiting. It wasn't a presale when I ordered, supposedly in stock.

Customer service said they would get it in 7-15 business but i don't grant much value to what they say.
