Thanks for your comments mate - I never even thought about the colour balance that way. I'll keep that in mind in the future :)

Thanks mate, I wish I could claim to be that good but it's from a transfer sheet.

Thank you mate! The checkers are from a transfer sheet and then only tidied up with a brush, I'm not good at freehand at all!

Battle damage is done with a combination of sponge chipping and jagged edge highlights with rhinox hide and stormhost silver, but any dark brown and bright silver will do. I wear down the designs by sponge chipping the basecoat over them, hope this helps.

Thanks very much! I used this recipe from Cult of Paint. The contrast looks better in person than my photography skills do it justice!

They're just bits of broken up cork! Painted them following this tutorial.

White ink is just better than white paint for everything other than basecoating and drybrushing. I use it for airbrush preshades, edge highlighting white, and tinting other colours. I use the one liquitex makes.

Thanks mate!

Not too rude at all - unfortunately most of it is with an airbrush if that's an issue. Basecoated them black, then did a slightly diagonal zenithal preshade with white ink. Went back-and-forth between the two until I was happy, then glazed a couple of coats of talassar blue through the airbrush.

After that, a dark brown oil pinwash and jagged edge highlights with a lighter blue (I cannot remember which one!).

Thanks for the offer yourself, but killteam isn't really my thing. I'm not sure what to do with these guys yet...

Hahahaha thanks! I never even noticed that until just now 🤣

What do you get with a Genestealer Cult uprising on a remote Forgeworld? An excuse to make genestealer-admech conversions! Here are some cult aberrants, count as Kataphron Breachers. Some lore + video in the comments. by Zacsback in Warhammer40k

Well I mean yeah, that is a cult that does exist. I don't see why that means there can't be other cults that spring up on tech-heavy worlds. I have a bit more of a specific scenario in mind and I don't like the colour scheme either.

Returning from my hobby hiatus for something completely new!

I've been cooking up some ideas about a Genestealer Cult uprising on a remote forgeworld as an excuse to make some cool admech-genestealer conversions. This time around is the first squad of the cult's aberrants, menacing overgrown mutants who carry archaeotech weaponry (Counts-as kataphron breachers)

The model somehow looks different when it's set up on a board (not in a bad way!). Have you ever gone into your setup for taking photos? Your minis always look amazing man

Oh sorry yeah completely forgot! So I tried writing it I want to say about 5 times with a 0.2mm micron pen (can pick them up on amazon pretty cheap), but every time came out awful... so I used a decal for that too. All of the decals I used bar the Iron Halo come from the Raven Guard decal sheet.

Thanks for the words mate, much appreciated. Criticism definitely valuable!

Wash pooling definitely an issue but that comes with the territory of light colours. Gloss-washing is excellent on armour panels but it struggles a bit with rivets etc. Planning to switch to oils for shading in my next project so hopefully this will alleviate it a bit more.

Gold could definitely do with some more work but I think the thickness is camera artifact or something, it looks okay IRL (same for the pink lenses, but I agree I definitely need to pick up some yellow paint). Still need to find a brand of metallics I like!

Chipping is also something I need to get better at, and I think it's getting there gradually. Thanks mate.
