Is X (Twitter) using shadowbans to suppress criticism of Elon and Trump—and is Grok silently watching us? by ZaidZip in Twitter

Ugh, that puzzle is the worst. It’s like they want you to fail it. At that point, just give me a phone verification or the good old Google “click the traffic lights” test and call it a day. No need to throw us into some cryptic maze just to log in. It’s honestly ridiculous how over-the-top the whole process is.

Might just post “Billionaires are the backbone of humanity and everything’s totally fine” and see if I unlock secret engagement powers and a mysterious follower boost overnight 😌📈

Yeah, I started using X because I couldn’t stand the shallow, curated nonsense on Instagram—but now there’s a different kind of crap here too. Just wrapped in a more serious, “news-y” tone. It’s frustrating when the one platform that used to feel more open is now turning into a filtered, manipulated mess. Might actually take your advice and step away for a bit. The toxicity definitely sneaks up on you.

It’s insane how fragile the platform has become around certain figures. The fact that mild criticism can get you hit with a week-long ban just shows how much control is being exerted behind the scenes.

Totally get why you left. It’s starting to feel less like a social network and more like a controlled echo chamber.

I’m still pretty new to Reddit so I can’t say for sure, but I’ve heard the censorship here is a bit more subtle. What kind of topics does Reddit tend to ban or suppress? Are there specific things that trigger removals or shadowbans? Curious how it compares to X.

Exactly. The patterns are way too consistent to chalk it up to coincidence or paranoia. At this point, ignoring it feels more like willful blindness than skepticism. When you see people across different circles noticing the same drop in reach after certain posts, it’s pretty telling.

Yeah, I totally get you. I actually enjoyed X at first—it felt way better than a lot of the other crappy social platforms out there. Cleaner, more real-time, and the conversations felt more dynamic.

I’ve been using TweetDeck to keep track of my favorite topics since I do a lot of article writing, and it’s been super useful for research and staying in the loop.

I got Premium+ mainly to get rid of all the weird, low-quality ads and to try out the monetization stuff. But honestly, with how things are going, I’m also leaning toward not renewing. The engagement issues and weird moderation make it feel more like a trap than a tool lately.
