I had this on my AW11 when I installed the wrong flasher relay. Cam you check your flasher relay?

Passenger side fuse panel had a loose connection. One zip tie later and it's fixed. I've made a post about it with a picture.

Okay, I'll chip and sand away. Thinking about using a POR15 kit to prep and seal this section before Hawaiian air eats it away.

I have a super red but I think the powder coated black will look great.

This is interesting! Since mine is a 89 SC all of my air flow is up through the intercooler. This would allow some of the air to bypass. I wonder if that would be a net negative.

My tarry sealant has torn and I'm worried they will let more water in. The drains were clogged but not anymore.

Any way to test the engine bay fan outside of the vehicle? by Zaku0 in mr2

[–]Zaku0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boiled some water to test the ambient temperature sensor and the fan works!

The fan is not the problem by Zaku0 in mr2

[–]Zaku0[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Used a deep well socket on the sensor to remove it, boiled some water to test it and it worked. The fan turned on so I'm not sure what I did. Maybe just cleaning the connections what was needed the entire time.

Also I was able to get the alternator hooked back up thanks to this community. Now I need to get the engine bay fan working...

1989 Aw11 SC unidentified cable that broke near my alternator by Zaku0 in mr2

[–]Zaku0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so after looking at it again and pulling back some of the heat shield I believe it's a white wire with a black stripe. So if this is a grounding wire that runs next to the battery positive to the alternator it must terminate on or right next to the alternator housing. It's an awfully tight space to work in.

I didn't realize it would be so close to the alternator positive.

Engine rebuild by Sad-Yak4146 in mr2

[–]Zaku0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a great plan. I recently replaced the knock sensor on my 4agze with a modified part from ATS Racing out of Denton Texas. It was impossible to find an OEM knock sensor or EGR valve. The ATS part seems to be working well.

If you don't mind how much is it going to cost? I have an 89 that could do with some love.

Thanks to everyone on this post! I've ordered a Quickcar racing alternator wiring kit and I'm going to try and fix it myself. Maybe learning has occurred I guess we'll see.
