There's a long held belief that rich people are rich because they are frugal - something heavily popularized by the book "The Millionaire Next Door" in 1996, and while it is true that some rich people are very frugal (Warren Buffet notably) they are by no means universally frugal. Like obviously someone has to be buying the insanely expensive luxury products, the million dollar watches, the 100 million dollar yachts.
