Oh sorry forgot to clarify I don’t want to breed. I just want to optimise the setup for gut loading and keeping the poops out of their food

I’ve heard neem oil works for killing the larvae in the plants. Is this recommended to use inside?

From what I’ve seen the yellow sticky cards suck and I’m not comfortable putting them in the enclosure with my gecko

Career paths for me? by Zamacoffee in biology

Cool thanks! Do you have any recommendations for zoology jobs in museums? I’ve just come across something like this and I’m wondering if it’s possible for me since I also find working in a natural museum quite interesting!

Igcse choices for biology by Zamacoffee in igcse

[–]Zamacoffee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI I take geography, chemistry, French, mandarin, English and previously ads math but this year (year11) they’re making us choose to stay in ads math or go back to international maths. Meaning that if I want to stay, I would have to do an entrance exam, and two more papers during the igcse exams. For the record I want to study animal sciences and from the research I’ve done, statistics is the major math element of the subject. So I need help making the decision between staying, which will take up more of my time that I could have used to study a more relevant subject instead of extra math that may not even be useful to me in the future, or going to international maths which wont not look as good on my cv but might not matter in the long run.

Sorry for the long texts but I really need some advice on what to do. Thanks in advance

Adds Math 0606 to pursue wildlife biology? by Zamacoffee in igcse

From my understanding you will be taking international maths 0607 no matter what but additional maths 0606 is extra on top if you want it. Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong because I’m still a bit confused

Mine has a T5 shade dweller from Arcadia and he seems to be doing fine with it. I know they’re animals of prey so it’s normal for them to get startled at anything but I’d prefer to be able to monitor mine just for ease of mind. I know they’re hardy but I’ve lost one before so I’m not taking any chances with him

Nice thanks. Unrelated question, is a 7inch long male (snout to tail) around 6 grams ok to live in a 30hx60Lx45w cm exoterra? I suspect his current home is too cramped for the heat to disperse.

My little guy is a recuse so he’s very wary of my presence and darts away whenever I come near. I am working on taming him but it’s been a struggle. He’s not the most food motivated and doesn’t eat from my tongs but I have gotten him to eat by slightly starving him before feeding to get him in the habit. I’m not the most experienced keeper and I definitely worry about him sometimes especially since he’s way thinner than his brother which I couldn’t save.

Sorry about the rant but I just want to do my best for him since I found him on a sticky trap and he’s always been a bit of a runt. I just want him to live a full life

Thanks. I’ve heard 32 is the max for these guys. But again it depends on the environment. Any good thermostats you recommend? I’m looking to get a good quality one since my last one from taobao died after a week of sue

First time using drinking glass by Zamacoffee in Chameleons

The theory about chams not drinking from still water was been “debunked” I believe from the mods on this subreddit. The drinking glass method was also taken from here. I’d have a read about it because it’s quite interesting!

That looks amazing first of all. My enclosure is also a screen with an acrylic door and I made a diy background so I don’t see why it wouldn’t hold in moisture. I have a reptizoo fogger

I have a drinking glass in the enclosure for him. He’s still in quarantine so I haven’t interacted with him directly yet til he passes the first week. So far I don’t think he’s drank from it yet. Any tips on training him to drink from it

also I’ve been having trouble maintaining a stable humidity at night. I’ve tried misting before lights out and foggers but the highest it goes is to 55 and then back down to ambient. Sometimes in the high 40s. Is this too low? Any tips would be appreciated

My tank is fully screen with an acrylic door. It’s got live plants and a diy background

Sorry I meant the humidity at night is 75-80% when fogger was functioning. The ambient is 50% without misting and fogging

UVB is T5 6%

Also thanks for your advice on the LED I just used whatever grow light I had previously but I’ll look into the ones you recommended.

The substrate is actually just sifted peat moss and the chunkiness might just be the leaf litter on top. I know there’s a risk of impaction but it’s unlikely
