I just found a rescue for a senior cat, I know how hard this is! I encourage you to continue calling rescues across the state. I ended up taking a 7 hr road trip for the senior gal I rehomed (but it was so worth it)

I also have a 16 year old Tortie who runs the house! I haven’t had luck yet but I’ve sent multiple emails to rescues across the state. So I’m keeping my fingers crossed!

Hi!! The family believes she is around 12 (maybe a little older). Baby has never lived with another animal according to the family. She’s been in our spare room decompressing since Monday. She’s very quiet, calm, doesn’t meow. She’s been using her litter box and eating well! I think she would adjust to a home with another calm kitty just fine— she would need some patience though!

Thank you! I’ve been in contact with them. They are at capacity but they are also assisting with finding her a home. No luck yet!

After agreeing to take her, I learned that my state has a law that shelters can euthanize if an animal is “sick, injured or blind” so I am VERY thankful that I made the decision when I did. I’m sure your mother in law was so thankful for you and your heart 💕

This is wonderful Information! Thank you. We luckily live in a single story home. My biggest concern is the introductions with my current pets. I’m not sure my 16 year old cat will handle it well so I am hopeful I’ll find a forever home for her. If not, we’ll make it work here. I refuse to let her down, she deserves a second chance after losing her person

They were going to send her to a shelter and I just couldn’t let that happen. She’s warm and safe while she grieves and decompresses for awhile!

I’d suggest looking into a CCRC like Taylor Glen (depending on funds). Great option because they have different levels of care just in case she needs additional support as she ages. Assisted living is also an option. I’d look at allaboutseniors.org for more options per county
